552 will no longer serve AC Rail Terminal

The AC Rail stop was a ticking time bomb the second it started, I'm not surprised one bit.

Do you remember/know when & why the 552 was sent there?

----

In any event, I never understood why it ended @ the rail terminal anyway.... you have a perfectly laid out bus terminal @ AC for the 552 (and the other buses that end there)... space couldn't have been an issue, and folks have a habit of walking b/w the rail terminal & bus terminal anyway.... Although there are undesirables roaming around, AC is very walkable...

Lol you answered your own question, it was for those that walked between the 2. The funny thing was most of em never knew the 552 ran between the 2 places lol so it won't be missed.

NJT does shyt the wrong way, I remember I was asked how crowded that AC rail run was and I told the regional my only pax was a fly. All jokes aside it was a waste of gas time and money.

Every time I did the 552 I never had more then 1 person between the 2 and most of the time it was empty.

I actually took the 552 from rail term to bus term, with a transfer to the 505 for my shorehouse in Margate for Labor Day Weekend

459 CCC to Lindenwold

AC Rail to AC

552 to Bus Term w/ transfer

505 to Margate

My guess is maybe ACJA will have a shuttle to the bus terminal come summertime

oh, aight... gotcha... thought it may have been some other (underlying) reason I was unaware of....

last time I took the 552 out of cape may (got to AC sometime after 8pm IIRC), everyone got off at the bus terminal (including myself)... Whenever I've headed out to AC & notice a 552 pull in from the rail terminal, there was never anyone that got off... and like you said, some of those times there was no one even on the bus.... what's the fare riding b/w the rail terminal & the bus terminal anyway?

regardless, props on the insight fam....

552 is a nova or mci route?

If they did it wouldn't surprise me since secaucus jct you don't know what they will do anymore

For once, I agree with you, qjt.

If there was a way to maybe merge the rail and train stations into one building, so customers can be serviced better, it might work. I don't know if ACES still operates during the summer but I would think that people that takes the train instead of the 319 from NY would appreciate bus service from the rail station to the casinos if a Train/Bus merger would be made. I think it would give more revenue for NJT, the Casinos, and even Greyhound. Because everything that is needed to make a connection is there.

Philadelphia: Greyhound, 551 or the Atlantic City Line to Philadelphia

New York: Greyhound, 319 or ACES or Atlantic City Line to Philly

OR if you want an adventure: SEPTA R7/Trenton Line to NJT's NE Corridor

Greyhound would get more people going to AC, then from there take the 500's to the casinos.

Just ideas that come into play.

Sounds like a good idea, just extend the ACL to the ACBT via an underground tunnel making the current last stop a 2nd to last stop. It wouldnt cost a whole hell of a lot as the ground in AC is soft. ACBT was already rehabbed, but should be turned into an inside bus terminal like WRTC with that wonderful display that shows what time and gate the bus departs. Of course I'm dreaming.

I'm gonna sound like such a foamer but I did that this summer:

I took the 139 from the PABT to Lakewood, the the full 559 to AC, the 551 to Philly then the R7 to Trenton for the (NEC). I'm planning on doing that again but using the 409 from Philly to Trenton.

Still gotta ride the whole 317 too....

The 409 ride is miserable reguardless!!!! Thank god I only used it too get to areas in burlington not served by riverline. never took 317 all the way before plus I would go nuts if I did

Just because it was for you doesn't mean it will be for someone else. I'm not a fan of the 409 but it's an enjoyable ride. I fan it once in a while.

139 -> 559 -> 551 -> 409 is the bizness.... I've done it twice myself....

It's what comes after the 409 ride is where it starts to suck..... that is, dealing w/ the NEC.....

eh, it's more or less a 2 hour ride.... you make it sound like its the full 317 or something.....

When I'm out to fan, it's not about speed.....it's about the ride.

Thank You !

I'm expecting a CD in the mail containing route by route/train by train/station by station ridership from NJT any day now...will post the facts when I get it.

B35: Have you ever ridden the full 317? If so, can you post a trip report?

Amen to that. Shoot, I'd get to Philly, try to get a train to connect to that mall that Septa 127 goes to, get to Trenton, and take the train back. That's another adventure.

neshaminy, oxford valley.... can't remember which mall it is either, atm.... but you're right, that is another headache....

Full... yes, once.... and I had to help the driver out w/ the portion b/w asbury park & lakewood (which I've taken the 317 between a couple other times before).....

If I find my log book with that trip, I'll shoot you a PM bro.

(sad that I keep logs of these things, aint it)
