B7 makes a movement this January...

For the B7, this should be the service pattern down the line:

1. Rush hours: Bensonhurst (end of Bay Parkway) to Ridgewood Terminal, Bensonhurst to Flatlands - Flatbush Avenue, Midwood - East 16 Street to Flatlands (to Midwood AM, from Midwood PM). During this time, all B82 service would be Limited-stop service. Some service would be out of Ulmer Park instead of Fresh Pond.

2. Weekdays from 6 AM to 9 PM and Saturdays from 8 AM to 8 PM (except for rush hours): Midwood to Ridgewood Terminal.

3. Evenings, 9 PM to end of service, and all day Sunday: Flatlands to RIdgewood Terminal.

Ridgewood service would be via the B26 route; it would be a waste of revenue to not run it in service to and from a major hub. The Ridgewood to Flatlands service would be 15-minute headways during the weekday rush, 20 minutes off-peak and on Saturdays, and 30 minutes on Sundays. Interlining would be with other routes out of Ridgewood Terminal.

Paying for it: by making all rush-hour B82 service limited-stop, you could cut at least 15 runs from the B82, which would be limited between 86 Street and Flatbush Avenue, and between Ralph Avenue and Canarsie (Rockaway Parkway eastbound, Williams Avenue westbound).

Once again, there's no need to extend it up to Ridgewood...the B26 is more than enough and buses are usually empty by the time it reaches Broadway anyway

No need to extend it---except to give residents on the northern end of the B7 (in Ocean Hill) a one-seat ride to a shopping district.

You do realize there's next to no one on the B7 once it passes Fulton St going north.

They usually just take the (A) or (C) downtown or take the B26.

You're just adding unnecessary service to a place that doesn't need it.

I'd actually swap that around... the Kings Highway portion of the B7 is cuttable...

Interesting how many people use it north of E NY ave? or is that part dismal as well? You raise a very interesting point.

That portion sees a good amount of riders. I've seen packed buses on this portion.

Yeah... but look at the B46 and B47... this portion can be cut back to rush hours only if necessary... it's empty all other times.

I had a feeling that was the case.

Its pretty much extra help for the B82 local, and to keep things moving along Kings Hwy since that 82 is just as crowded half the time. It pretty much evens out west of Coney Osland Av since that area is an important and busy shopping district
