B/O 4600 Hiring Process

Message added by +Young+

BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!

Hey everyone, i am upcoming on the list but i have an outstanding electronic device ticket. My court date is not until next summer, do you think this will effect my elegibilty? Also, i have a friend on this list as well and he has a suspension, but it was taken care of on the same day, yet shows up on his abstract, does that affect his elegibilty? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Yes, any outstanding tickets must be paid. If you have any outstanding tickets, they will turn you away. They pull up your abstract each and every time you go down to 180 Livingston Street.

As far as the suspension, it has to be 3 years since the day the suspension ended. The only things they will tolerate are accidents (maximum of two) and tickets (either paid or got dismissed). Example: I had an accident on 6/26/14. I ran my abstract via MyDMV (for New York State) in early September. The accident was still on there, but it didn't count towards anything.

Ok, I understand. When I pulled up my abstract, the ticket does not show up. Will they see it still? And as far as the suspension, there is no way around that? It wasnt suspended for driving reasons, my friend missed his court date and thats why it was suspended.

Ok, thanks. I am really stressing out about this issue. It sucks. If anyone else has any advice, id really appreciate it

Once you pay the ticket, it will show on your abstract. You have to deal with it either way but before it's settled, you won't be able to continue the employment process... Cell phone is also a 5 point ticket so if guilty, you're out for consideration for a while.

Cellphone ticket is 5 points that will turn you away automatically. If the ticket is pending they won't be able to see it but what you think is going to happen when they find out you lied?.. trust me they will find out. about your friend they don't count suspension no more. They look at points, accidents and revocations.
