Headway reductions Summer 2014

Amtrak7

Recommended Posts

The following service improvements will come June 2014:

- (2)(3) weekday evenings, add 3 round trips apiece

- (4)(5) AM peak shoulder, add 1 roundtrip apiece

- (A): cut 1 PM peak roundtrip, add 2 evening roundtrips

- (E)(F): early AM peak: add 1 roundtrip apiece

- (L) AM peak: Add 1 roundtrip

- (L) PM peak shoulder/evening: Add 7 roundtrips

- (L) Saturday/Sunday: Add 4 evening roundtrips a day

This brings all loads to within guideline during those times. ( (L) Sundays just barely, to 99.8%)

Cost: $4.3M.

In response to Christopher Henderson, the only time when the (C) actually gets pretty crowded during the off-peak is before and after a party or an event at Central Park or maybe Barclays Center. But other than that, its just the first and/or last cars being somewhat crowded because of the exists nearby while the rest of the train is either seated loaded, fewer standees, fewer seats available or virtually empty.

You'll only see the entire (C) train nearly full between 8 and 9 in the morning rush entering the CBDs, and also between 6 and 7 in the evening rush coming from the CBDs. Its 10-12 minute headway is fine as it is.

The (R) is left to die.... I'm happy that they're adding service, but they seem to ignore other subway lines. Unfortunately, Queens Residents aren't so vocal.
These don't result from people being vocal. They are routine adjustments based on load checks to keep loads within guidelines. Loads on the R don't exceed guidelines.

It's a shame that the (D) isn't a part of the improvements cause it needs it.
Loads on the D don't exceed guidelines either.

These service expansions are purely guideline-driven, not because the MTA has extra cash to spend.
Bingo.

I think the (C) should run until 12am that would really help the (A) a lot
