Meadowlands Casino could open in 2016, pending voter approval

Pending voter approval, this casino (operated by Hard Rock) could open sometime next year and could be the top grossing revenue casino/entertainment complex in the country

Could this hurt Atlantic City even more?  Would NJ Transit or another bus company (Academy or Coach USA) operate PABT to Meadowlands Casino shuttles?

Atlantic City is more of a tourist trap as well, so it would attract a lot more people from all over. I'm not so sure that this casino would cause more of an impact than Resorts World out here in Queens. Resorts World did put a dent into business out in Atlantic City.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

You already have the 703 serving the Meadowlands. It could only boost service for the 163/64. You have the Meadowlands Rail line from Hoboken. And Coach USA's 351 Meadowlands Express (Community/Suburban) from Port Authority as well

I forgot the line that runs from Secaucus Junction to the Meadowlands

The 163/164 is already busting at the seams with tourists on summer weekends.  If anything, Transit may boost service on the under-utilized 160.

Now that you mention it, I don't think that's the Shuttle from Meadowlands to Secaucus Junction. the 378 is the supplement to the 78

Yup, its the express route of the 78, formerly the 78X

They could care less about AC.  This is about making tax money or the lack of it. If the money is gambled in Queens or Connecticut or Pocono resorts then it isn't doing New Jersey any good.  Who runs NJTransit and if this means money for the state then NJTransit will have multiple buslines stopping at the front door including the railroad.

They used to have the 772 going from Hackensack to Secaucus Junction via Meadowlands.

Unfortunately NJT truncated the route to its present route Hackensack/Paramus CC to the Meadowlands back in 2010-2011. It is a shame since there is no connection other than the 190 between Lower Bergen County and Secaucus.

On a related note, I wonder how they are going to address the bus situation when(ever) the Xanadu-thing opens.
