IMO the r179's and the r211's should only go to Rockaway Park during rush hours until a huge majority of the r46's are gone from the A. The Rockaway Shuttle uses the same fleet as the Line so it doesn’t matter what runs on it as long as the required service levels are met.

That's true. It's not like the Franklin Av and 42 St that has its own car numbers and arrangement. The Rockaway Park is whatever's leftover from the train pool. No. Most often the equipment running on the is shared with what is laid up at Rockaway Park between Rush Hours. We're almost at the point where we have enough R211A/Ts plus spares in service to cover the 110 stored R32s, so maybe we could see some R46s start to get sidelined soon. With the R211S testing too and the R44s in even worse condition, maybe we'll see some of those go first, especially since there aren't that many cars on SI anyways

All the R211s currently in service marks 100 cars, 8 on the and 2 on the , plus 4080-84 and 4085-89 (hopefully they connect or switch with previous sets in service), went in service August 3 and 17, respectively) would make 110. We're already on that mark when those 2 come back into service, and that's a good thing, so these 46s can go. zacster Posted February 13 Share #7260 Posted February 13 And there are another 3 new sets on the property that are being prepped with more on the way. Only a matter of time before the R46s start to go.

I was thinking of getting out there this Sunday but I don't want to waste my time... Pretty good chances I’d say, they’re about 1 in 3 of the A fleet needed. Personally when I went to Rockaway Blvd, first time I saw 2 R211s head towards the Rockaways before my train came (an R46) and saw 2 more getting uptown before I got off at Cortlandt. Second time, this weekend with work being done on Fulton express the first train was an R211.

It was out for Burn-in testing in the evening. There is no reason to put it in service this late, as well as the train entering Pitkin YD to conclude its testing. Only 4145-4149 + 4165-4169 entered service on the A in the afternoon, 4144-4140 + 4164-4160 isn't in revenue service yet. The Yardmaster assigns the cars . There are 3 eight hour shifts for yardmasters daily, Plus since transit a 24/7 business, there are many different yardmasters in the course of a week. Finally, the Division of Car Equipment makes the cars available because of maintenance requirements. Therefore whatever is available and released by CED (R46/R179) the yardmaster will assign. Bad performers or good performers are kept tracked of by CED, not the RTO Yardmaster.
