Department of Subways - Proposals/Ideas

Recommended Posts

I propose an extension of the J/Z lines from it's current terminal in Jamaica Parsons/Archer to Queens Village. It will make stops at these locations:

Merrick Blvd-168 Street, 179th Street, Woodhull-Hollis Avenues, Francis Lewis Blvd, Hempstead Avenue, and Springfield Blvd.

I agree with this, but I have a couple questions:

Would it continue along Jamaica Avenue?

Would skip-stop service continue to Springfield Blvd?

Bronx River (S) connecting the (2)(5)(6)<6> Lines from 180th street to with stops at

180th Street (2)(5)(9)(S)

177th Street (S)

174th Street (S)

172nd Street-Boynton Avenue (S)

Elder Avenue (6)(S)

Westchester Avenue (S)(6)

Simpson Street (2)(5)(6)

There would be an elevated wye connection at boynton and westchester, with elder being double level, a grade junction before the bronx river viaduct with the (S) breaking off the (6) and running parallel to the (6) until whitlock and westchester aves. The Line would go straight up westchester until the double level Simpson Street station with a 2 way junction at simpson.

I'm trying something more on the base of a Queens Bronx Connection.

The purple (8) train would run with the (7) train from Queensboro Plaza. After reaching all the way to Flushing the train would run to these stations-

(Roosevelt ave)

-Flushing- Main St (7)

-Parsons Blvd

-150 St

(Turn onto Northern Blvd)

-Crocheron Ave

-Utopia Pkwy

(Turn onto Utopia Pkwy)

-29 Av/Francis Lewis Blvd

-21 Ave (local only)

-16 Ave (local only)

(Merge onto/ run alongside Throgs Neck Bridge)

(Merge of onto ?Pennyfield Ave? At SCNY)

-Maritime College

-Harding Ave

(Merge onto 177th Av/cross Bronx expwy)

-Miles Ave

(Merge onto Tremont ave)

-Randall Ave

-Lafayette Ave

-Bruckner Blvd

-Waterbury Ave (Local only)

(Merge onto Westchester Ave)

-Middletown Rd (6)

-Buhre Rd (6)

-Pelham Bay Park (6)

End of route

Whatever types of trains that would run, they'd have to be compatible with the trains on both the (6) and (7) lines due to the route.

(8) Bronx-Queens connector- Pelham Bay Park

(8) Bronx-Queens Connector- Queensboro Plaza

I feel this one might just work.

This would run along with my newer route (9) hence improving the purple lines. The (7)(8)(9) will now reach eastern Queens and Bronx, hence improving the system

I'd extend the (4) past Woodlawn, run it into Yonkers and terminate it at the Cross County mall.

It would stop at:

233rd/Jerome

McLean Av/Central Av

Yonkers Avenue (Raceway)

Cross County

There's way too much political and NIMBY red tape for this to become reality, but if it were built, it would be quite the money maker.

-Kings Hwy (N)

-Kings Hwy (F)

-Kings Highway (B)(Q)

-Nostrand Ave (fictional 2)

-Flatbush Ave (fictional 5)

And as for my route (9)...

Queens Plaza is east of Queensboro... and is also only three blocks away.

Yeah, I know that but because its running on Steinway the tracks would kinda run under both...so I kinda just said it would terminate under queens plaza sometimes and other wise just stop at Queensboro Plaza... For lack of a better plan. I was mainly concentrating on the Steinway/ LaGuardia parts, not the beginnings and ends. Edited by MooreTransit

Well its create your own subway line, lol, and I was bored.

Now if it went to the bronx, that'll be a different story...

I agree- A east west Bronx route could come in handy... The best idea I could think of was a shuttle or an extension of the (A) unless this east west route connected to Queens...hmm...

Maybe a Fordham Rd route in the Bronx that connects to Eastern Queens...

My name is Rtrain4thAv and I am new to this forum. This is my first posting, so my fantasy subway route would be an extension of the (R) via 63rd Street & the Queens Blvd bypass using the LIRR mainline to Jamaica to Glen Oaks via Union Turnpike. It would be express at all times via the bypass between 21st Street/Queensbridge and Continental Av-Forest Hills, then peak directional rush hours express between Glen Oaks and Forest Hills. This route would utilize a mix of fleets: 75% R46 and 25% R68A. The Queens Blvd-Broadway local via 60th Street would be replaced with a revival of the (W), plus the Crosstown (G) would be extended

Stops, in order from northern terminal (express stops between Glen Oaks and Kew Gardens in bold):

  • Langdale St/80th Ave-Glen Oaks (northern terminal) <R>
  • Little Neck Pkwy
  • Winchester Blvd
  • Springfield Blvd-Grand Central Pkwy <R>
  • 215th St-Bell Blvd
  • Francis Lewis Blvd-Cunningham Park

  • Utopia Pkwy <R>
  • 164th St
  • 150th St
  • 138th St <R>
  • Kew Gardens-Queens Blvd (E)(F)<R>
  • 75th Road-Ascan Av
  • Continental Av-Forest Hills (E)(F)(M)(G)(W)
  • 21st St-Queensbridge (lower level) (F)
  • Lexington Ave/63rd St
  • 57th St-Midtown
  • 49th St-7th Av
  • Times Sq-42nd St
  • 34th St-Herald Sq
  • 28th St

since the shutting down the montague street tunnel is being proposed for the coming year, i would propose running the R to court street on the brooklyn end and the manhattan end ends at whitehall street. even though this is not a proposal thread since that one was closed.

i also designing an extension of the 6 train extension into co-op city will be done within the hour. hopefully this will make the people there happy   what more service do they need lol

EDIT: DONE!

According to the Wall Street Journal, this is exactly what they're doing.
