It’s free to apply to take the exam and a good opportunity to get your foot in the door in the MTA. What are your thoughts? Is anyone in here currently in this position? if so, what are your experiences? how long did it take to advance into another position and also are there training opportunities offered from the union to advance into titles such as station agent or train operator without waiting for an exam? Basically this is a gather up lottery to hire people into the Cleaner title. Cleaner is considered a civil service labor class title meaning you do not need to take an exam to get hired. If one is looking for an entry level opportunity at transit it's either this or wait for the next C/R exam. As for Station Agent there is an exam that is open competitive coming out this year but likely it will require 18 months of customer service. I am not sure if you need to pass probation to enroll in a TCP course unfortunately. I applied for the Transit cleaner job two weeks ago as well as I'm already on the conductor list but my list number is 77## but I didn't get a called for transit cleaner.
