Great photos!

Great pix, and the Inner Loop in SF ain't closed. Went on my RF trip on 12-10-08 and saw a R-142 (5) making it's noisy turn...

It is closed- to the general public. It has the same status as the IRT City Hall station on the Lexington Avenue Line. It is closed to the public but is used to turn trains. So it is NOT closed to operations.

@SevenEleven- Thanks!

@MTR Admiralty- Thanks! TO bad they cant use the SF loop used by the (1) for the (5) but then wouldnt that mean the (5) would rul alltimes to bowling green? Or creat a (S)?

I don't think that would be needed, the curve, both inner and outer loops are fairly tight. It will wear the NTTs out, and also it can delay the Lex Line, which is already jacked up.

nono i mean when the (1) gets the permanent GO via SF Term, it can run the (5) down, and why would it cause a prob to 142 if the (2)(5) would switch at SF to get access to there GOs

@Daniel The Cool/sinbadexpress~ Thanks!

I read from somewhere that it could wear the NTTs out. Well yeah, the 5 has been stopping inside the inner loop for quite some time, and apparently the NTTs are still fine.

Actually, they should test 5 trains running to the outer loop and stop as it does provide a better connection to the Ferry. If the tests are successful (meaning that the effect on the Lexington Avenue lines is minimal; causing little to no delays to the line) then sure why not, however if the tests show that this set up is too problematic, then don't.
