Harry 1,088 Posted September 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2007 I was at Staten Island at my cousins house who lives around the corner from the SIR. So I went on a photo tour of the SIR. I have not been on SIR property in a long time. The system does have a railroad feel to it. Enjoy! At Clifton Station SIR Mechanical Shop at Clifton At St. George Terminal
NewJerseyT 0 Posted September 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2007 Nice pics! Is it fair to say that it looks more like a subway than anything else?
Tracknut 0 Posted September 23, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 23, 2007 Nice pics! Is it fair to say that it looks more like a subway than anything else? Yes thats fair. They use modified R44's like the ones used on the IND A line. Nice pics Harry!

sebbieprops 0 Posted September 24, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 24, 2007 Great pictures, Harry! The SIR seems, to me, like a cross between the subway and the Metro-North.
NewJerseyT 0 Posted September 24, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 24, 2007 Are the interiors the same as the R44s on A line? Or is it different?

Far Rock Depot 1,291 Posted October 25, 2007 Share #10 Posted October 25, 2007 Can anyone list the differences between the R44 SIR and R44 NYCT besides the obvious? Cab signaling pick-up bars on the lead trucks, no side destination signs and untill recently, grab irons on the exterior next to each door and under the cab windows. the bars under the cab windows remain but next to the doors have been removed.

MAA89 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 27, 2009 I don't usually comment on old threads. But it seems weird anyone would label a car infamous because it sounds like another car (if that's the reason), so I brought it up.
