Here are some photos from my trip down to the city on Saturday 05-16. Enjoy and as I get to my other pics I'll post them, too.

Foggy in New Haven

Bridgeport. The street on the right is East Washington, where I normally shoot trains from. Nice to see it from the train.

Waterbury train laid up on Jenkins Curve in Bridgeport

15+SoNo.jpg

SoNo station and the Danbury train on the right in track 5.

21+MU+south+of+Stamford.jpg

Just south of Stamford station.

24+M7a+south+of+Woodlawn.jpg

M7a south of Woodlawn someplace.

Thanks for looking!

your pal,

Fred

Great photos!

Thanks, trainfan22!

Nice!

No barrier between the road and the tracks in Bridgeport?

Thanks. There's no fence there, no. That photo is a bit of an optical illusion as the railroad bed is elevated there.

This spot I'm standing on is to the right in the RFW photo from last Saturday.

Great photos Fred!

Thanks backline!

Excellent shots Fred! Is the NH apart of MTA? (Not New Haven Line, i mean the NH logo unless the same?)

Thanks, Mark! The New Haven line is part of the MTA but some cars have been painted in the NH livery for nostalgic reasons. Also the State of CT is part owner of the New Haven line.

Love those BL20G's! Sweet pictures FG!:cool:

Thanks, Z and not to nitpick but they're BL20GH's, the H standing for head end power, as opposed to the SIR BL20G's without. ;)

Great pics!

Thanks, MTR Admiralty!

Simply stunning as usual (F)!

BL20GH's in full effect & lookin' good!

That bottom contact 3rd rail is never something i get used to seeing, so weird!

Thanks, (A)! Yeah I believe the underrunning third rail idea came about due to weather considerations.

Slammin pics Fred!

Metsfan: SEPTA's MFL has underrunning third rail also:

The correct terminology is bottom contact 3rd rail. Yea, the N5's use 3rd rail too, its (3rd rail) not uncommon in transit systems, but bottom contact is rare. I believe they did this to save time & not need the guards most top contacting rail is seen with. The era when this was built saw a huge experimentation with electrification. There was overhead trolly wire, catenary of varying types (both AC and DC also), overhead 3rd rail, conduit, double trolly pole etc etc.

Just a few years later the NYC opened the grand central terminal we know today. if you ever see (MTA) MNRR diesels their shoes flip up, whereas on LIRR they flip down.
