MattTrain Posted November 10, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 10, 2009 Just for once, I'd like to see the "via Jerome Avenue" to compliment the if the isn't running between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Concourse.
NYtransit Posted November 11, 2009 Share #12 Posted November 11, 2009 No and why would it be based out of CI for that weekend? i thought that the cars the used would be transferred over to the to make full 8/10 cars.
fordhamkid7721 Posted November 11, 2009 Share #13 Posted November 11, 2009 Just for once, I'd like to see the "via Jerome Avenue" to compliment the if the isn't running between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Concourse. Again..that would make too much sense. lol That has its pros and cons Pros -Complements the 4 therefore extra service -Epic railfanning oppurtunity Cons -Do they even have a program for that?..they probably do but I've never heard it -The 5 would borrow sets from the 4 regardless if it ended at 149 or Woodlawn lol...so it going farther up the line would require more sets to keep a decent headway on the 5..they'd have to sacrifice the reliability of either service...but theyre going to the same place if the 5's going to Woodlawn so who gives? the 5 is more of a supplementary line minus the 5 stops on the Dyre line anyway. Amtrak7 Posted November 13, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 13, 2009 Look at the brochure for the busing this weekend. It has a map VERY similar to SubwayWeekender's. Also, these 2 are in effect next weekend: No trains between Pacific and 34 Sts The and free shuttle buses provide alternate service Weekend 12:01 AM Sat to 5 AM Mon, Nov 21 - 23 Coney Island-bound trains run on the from Canal St to DeKalb Av Weekend, 12:01 AM Sat to 5 AM Mon, Nov 21 - 23 Note that they didn't say runs in 2 sections, transfer at 34 St for service at the platform like they did last time this GO took place. I guess because they didn't want confusion over whether or not the Broadway half of the will run via lower Manhattan.
MAA89 Posted November 16, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 16, 2009 No G.O. is "good" in my opinion. If I want to ride/photograph the subway for the fun of it, I would prefer that the trains run on their usual route and not take me far from where I want to be.
