67thAve Posted January 28, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 28, 2010 It's so close to Cortelyou road. (600 feet)
Joe Posted January 28, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2010 It's so close to Cortelyou road. (600 feet) Did you walk the tracks with a measuring wheel to find that out?
asidrane Posted January 28, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 28, 2010 It's so close to Cortelyou road. (600 feet) On, well with that logic, Bowling Green and Wall St are so close together. I think the train takes 30 seconds start to stop from one station to the other.
kentsfield Posted January 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 28, 2010 According to google maps they are 1000 feet apart.
m7zanr160s Posted January 28, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 28, 2010 If I'm not mistaken, Intervale and Prospect Avenue are really close together.
CaramelFrapp Posted January 29, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 29, 2010 If I'm not mistaken, Intervale and Prospect Avenue are really close together. Actually, you can clearly see the Intervale station from Simpson and vice versa.
EE Broadway Local Posted January 29, 2010 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2010 Did you walk the tracks with a measuring wheel to find that out? It's true: a full length ten car train can be at both platforms though only the first set of doors would be platformed at one station while the last set of doors would be platformed at the other station. Beverley Road serves Prospect Park South while Cortelyou Road serves a main commercial street.
mark1447 Posted January 29, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 29, 2010 If I'm not mistaken, Intervale and Prospect Avenue are really close together. No, Simpson Street and Intervale Avenue is REALLY close on the WPR. By about 2-3 Blocks. Go to 2:21 and see how it is on a ride: Video by me Prospect Avenue and Intervale is not near. On the Lenox 148th Street and 145th as well as 116th Street and 110th Street are close. Canarsie line would be ENY to Atlantic Pelham Line: Elder to Soundviews Ave And others too.. INDman Posted January 29, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 29, 2010 I would have to say that just about every station serves it's perpose other wise the MTA would be itching to close it down. Look at what happened to Dean Street, not only was it closed, but it was totaly removed.
Far Rock Depot Posted January 29, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 29, 2010 Atlantic Avenue - I've never seen anyone transfer from the to the LIRR. Hardly anyone uses this station well this use to be a major transfer point between canarsie trains and the old Fulton St El. 6 tracks and 3 platforms. I personally think 1st ave on the was ridiculous. 2 avenues from 3rd ave. i feel it would have been more logical to have built it at Ave A or B. INDman Posted January 29, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 29, 2010 well this use to be a major transfer point between canarsie trains and the old Fulton St El. 6 tracks and 3 platforms. A station at Av A or B might have been to deep to be convenient.
Far Rock Depot Posted January 29, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 29, 2010 A station at Av A or B might have been to deep to be convenient. tell that to the residents of "Alphabet city" i dont think they'd mind like the residents of Roosevelt Is. With the exception of E Bway and Delancey/Essex, theres no stops east of 1st ave
PATCOman Posted January 29, 2010 Share #24 Posted January 29, 2010 I heard somewhere that the distance between Chambers Street and Park Place on the and are the closest. IIRC, southbound Beverly Road is closer to Cortelyou Road since Beverly Road has offset platforms.
Grand Concourse Posted January 29, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 29, 2010 Yeah, I think Chambers-Park Place was pretty close too. If not for the 'transfer' to the Path, I probably would've just have the Park Place stop closed and have an underground connector from IND to IRT Chambers St stations. Plus at least riders at Chambers could choose which line to use. The couple of years I used the IRT station, I had to wait nearly forever before a Brooklyn bound 2/3 showed up. If there was a corridor there, I would've walked thru it and take the A/C to Fulton for the 4/5. A station at Av A or B might have been to deep to be convenient. Well 63rd-Lex is pretty deep, I don't think riders would mind as long as the escelators works. I would probably agree there should've been an Av A or B stop.
