Nova RTS 9147 Posted September 4, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 4, 2010 Is it true that governor in them can only Go 40 mph ? That depends on the garage said MCI is at. Some are governed at 45, some can do 60, and some are wide open.

No MCI buses governed at 45 cruising on 55 or 65 speed limit highway. Thats dangerous. All of the MCI buses should be governed above 55 mph. Ive seen MTA's MCI operate speed as high as 70 mph on Staten Island Expressway HOV lane.

I've been on plenty of MCI's that never went above 45, and plenty that hit 70. Yukon and Ulmer Park had buses that were capped at 45.
DevilBus65 Posted September 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 4, 2010 I drove one that was wide open from NYC to New Orleans. Got it up to 81 coming across the state line into Alabama. Once they go over 75 they are pretty sketchy to drive.

Bus 1864 was capped at 45 when transferred from MJQ as well as other 1800s and 1900s that came from MJQ to MTA Bus.

waynejay Posted September 7, 2010 Share #13 Posted September 7, 2010 Yeah - The TA is pretty pathetic the way they tie those buses down. On the NJ Turnpike they seem like their barely moving comapared to NJ Transit.
aemoreira81 Posted September 7, 2010 Share #14 Posted September 7, 2010 Is it true that governor in them can only Go 40 mph ? I don't know of any that is governed below 55 mph (except for maybe a handful); most should be wide open to 62-70. BTW, I was on 1927 on the Long Island Expressway once heading to Port Jefferson (when it was assigned to Mitchel Field); it didn't seem that fast.
