Kids today lack morals because their parents expect TV to instill it in them for them rather than being good parents.

 

While their parents are off fighting crusades against video game producers and TV directors, they are not being good parents and their kids don't learn the difference.

 

Stifling kids and not exposing them to things doesn't teach morals, it leads to the lack of morals when the kids leave the nest and discover those things on their own.

 

There is no substitute for being a good parent no matter how much these bad parent hack losers try to spin this.

 

Stifling things just encourages kids to do or try them more, haven't these PTA jackasses learned anything from how alcoholism has increased among teens since drinking became so anathema?

 

Subway Guy the parents are also partially at fault and you make a good point. There enough blame from greedy TV executives/deregulation of the entire media biz and even both parents 'working' and expecting TV to be a babysitter.

 

So in nutshell there enough blame on why popular Music/Entertainment personalities like Paris Hilton, Beyonce, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga and Ms. Perry using sex and acting like sluts is also a bad influence on our kids as well especially teen girls.

There is a difference between people using their own sexuality and "acting like sluts" and a lot of people here just don't seem to get that distinction.

 

Sex appeal has been used to sell things for more than a hundred years, or do you really think that "Miss Subways" was used solely to reward contestants for their beauty? So this is nothing new it's just back then parents actually took the time to make sure their kids got the message and understood what they were expected to be.

 

Celebrities acting like sluts is very different, and that's not the issue at hand here. And they've been doing that for over a hundred years too (and pornography has been around seemingly forever as well, including in art), again it all lies in proper parenting to ensure that kids "get" the lessons they're supposed to get, otherwise they just do what they want.

I hate having to resort to an argument of semantics, but there's a difference between selling sex (or as you deem it, slutting it out), and using sex to sell.... Clearly, this thing w/ Katy Perry was the latter... I mean, she could've been wearing a london fog jacket w/ her legs showing & some clown would've came out of the woodwork claiming that it's not suitable for children.... It's the fact that she's a female celeb... we all the double standard regarding how females are all supposed to be these lady-like figures, and males are supposed to have some tint of bad boy in em (whether they choose the suave look, or the rough & rugged look)....

 

a woman showing cleavage is not her acting like a slut.... you have to factor in her demeanor as well...

 

People (and I'm talking about these complainers, that was the cause of having this snippet pulled for) are being oversensitive to a situation where they know good & well was completely harmless... I mean, it's easy to pick a fight where the chances of the end result you desire has a higher possibility of happening....

 

In english, there are far more serious issues plaguing us than what some celeb showed in some children's program....

Go out & fight that.

When parents enroll their kids in these kiddie pageants... Having 6 year old girls with makeup on, in tights & short dresses/skirts, and HEELS! These are the same type of hypocrites living through their kids, trying to come across like they're these concerned, upstanding parents.... But let some female celeb do something out of the ordinary, or act un-lady like so to speak, and immediately that celeb gets villified....

This just goes to show that Puritans aren't extinct after all except back then even showing your ankles or neck was considered too hot to handle.

 

that brings up a a part of an episode of the honeymooners... alice was dressed up in a dress that was slightly above her knees; they all went to go rollerskating, re-living how they were as kids or w/e....

It's not suitable for children.. Whats so hard to see? This girl shouldnt have been on the show, shes a skank whore. Her music is all about decadent skank sterotypical dumb blonde crap. Have you listened to the lyrics of her songs? Shes a moron, shes not a positive role model.. Thats the whole point. Even the way she acted on SS, is the typical dumb dizzy brained chick stereotype.

 

Why not have lady gaga on seswame street? its pretty much the same thing..

 

But some people JUST DONT GET IT..Thats why your kids will grow up giving BJs to kids when they are 12 and pregnant at 17 at the rate these comments are going and the way people let their kids idolize scummy street people.

 

I have a friend and she was bragging about how she now has a nephew and how shes so happy for her niece.. They are Puerto Rican from the Bronx, the niece is 17 and just had a baby with a 19 year old father.. Yeah thats something to be real proud of.. More dumb kids growing up in the world with kids as parents, this kid will be poorly eductated , high school drop out,and will idolize rappers and whatever other crap is on MTV or HOT 97.. We arnt getting any Supreme court Judges or doctors from this future kid who has kids as parents...People I grew up with and their parents would be ashamed to have their daughter knocked up at 16...

 

This world has gone ta pot.

Way I see it, these celebs are gonna do what they're gonna do, Regardless if it's morally right or wrong.... This is why the TMZ's & the mediatakeout's of the world are flourishing... they are getting PAID for w/e type of medium that is sent their way (picture, video clip, etc)....

 

It's up to whatever positive role model a child has in his/her life to teach them right from wrong... steer them in the right direction.... use whatever methods they feel fit in instilling in that child that "this" is not how you should go about your business.... "this" is a person that's acting this way for the public; it is said that no publicity is bad publicity, so people are gonna do what they feel they have to, to a] be relevant, and b] put a few extra dollars in their pocket.... "this" will get you short term attention, but a life of misery in the longrun...

 

I'm sorry, but athletes, actors, rappers, anyone that puts themselves out there as a public figure are not meant to be role models... Children out here are idolizing these miscreants for a reason....

Did anyone see her on SNL last night? She is sexy as hell.

 

Yes I watchedher on SNL but I didn't stay up till 1 for her second song performance. But the sketch with her wearing the Elmo short was funny as hell though.
