My ride home from GCT to Harmon was also an M3A. Ive seen M3s in service on the Harlem line on sundays, its not rare to me, but on the Hudson yes as i saw a SB M3 at Riverdale about 2 hrs ago. metsfan Posted November 24, 2010 Share #12 Posted November 24, 2010 Nice! M2 has 3rd rail & pantograph, the rooftop equipment is to dissipate heat from the transformers as well as dynamic brakes. They run best under wire, 3rd rail is all most an afterthought.
