Apple Store Robbed

Apple-Store-Robbed-Broken-Window.jpg

The men broke the windows and while it sounds like the main stock of the store was locked, they grabbed what items were on display there. If you think of all the different models of laptops and computers and iPhones and whatnot, it could very easily add up to over $10,000, we think.

No arrests had yet been made when BGR wrote about the break-in, but the Apple Store was open for business though they had placed a big black board over the broken plane of glass. Steve Jobs would likely have a brain hemorrhage if he saw that gaudy black board over the glass. How Microsoft, one might say.

You may remember a story earlier in the year where some thieves entered a Best Buy at night and then rappelled from the ceiling to steal 20 Apple laptops – in order to prevent setting off the motion detectors on the floor. It was all very Mission: Impossible and very high-tech. Sort of the antithesis of five guys throwing a brick through the window at the Apple Store.

On another note, I think it's most interesting that this occurred in Greenwich CT. That's not exactly a bastion of crime. Could it be that the seeds of discontent are finally spreading to the wealthier suburbs? Let the mayhem begin.
I pass this store everyday and Im going to tell you thats good for apple and greenwich. Its not that crime is spreading to Greewich, because the way they took that glass door down indicates that it was an inside job.(BTW they didnt throw a rock through the glass for the record)One thing Greenwich cherish the most besides their wealth is their image. So none of the stores in the downtown area are not allowed to have those roll down steel gates. No joke if you was walking through Greenwich around 2am you can see inside all the stores and throw a rock through the glass.Passing by the Assple store that late and as clear as crystal you can see all the display models sitting there.A note to Greenwich.Just because it never happen there, doesn`t mean that it cant happen.B)

Good. Let the wealthy feel the angst of the recession too. Maybe when they don't feel so safe they'll stop f***ing working people over.

These stores all are insured & they have not lost any money, the display units are all ready a write-off as they will never be sold anyways & are damaged all the time by idiots.

What sucks the most is all the employees being questioned & store operations disrupted. Also, door missing can't be good for keeping the cold out.

They still do make computers, and they have grown over the same period when everyone else stagnated or shrank in computer sales, even through this rough economic environment they are going full steam ahead.

Apple has never been a typical company, they do things a bit differently and it works for them. The customer relations reps and the executive relations staff have powers to refund exchange etc, try talking to someone at dell, oh wait they are all in india. Apple's call centers are in the us and ireland.

I've always been into their stuff, it just seems to work, and behind the curtain is some powerful software engineering making it all go. Just look at the iPhone for an example, insane software driven by a careful combination of hardware, tied together in what's called "firmware".

Look out by the way for some very cool new stuff from them announced at macworld next month.

Crime has gone up in upper Manhattan. So such crimes in upscale areas doesn't surprise me anymore.
