I know that R160A-1s 8313-8376 are on the (L) wit 2% of (J/M/Z) and 8377-8652, 9943-9974 on the (J/M/Z).

+I'm wonderin tat does R160A-1s CBTC cars appear on the (J/M/Z) rush hrs only and the weekends.

+Does R160A-1s on the (L) run weekends. if yes, how many?

Another thing, even though its not about the (L), its the (M)

on weekends, do they split 4 by 4 in 1/2 cause of the shuttle

Those cars are based out of East New York.

Those cars run on the (L) but will appear on the (J)(Z) sometimes.

Yes. And whatever is available.

The (M)? The (M) has its own cars that comes out of Fresh Pond.

The CBTC R160s will not show up on the (M) shuttle. All you need is 3 or 4; 4 Car 160s to make the (M) Shuttle which can easily be broken up from the 160s in Fresh Pond.

How many times is this gonna be brought up?

The ones with CBTC (8313-8376) are mostly on the (L) and are always paired together while on the (L). But at the same time, its still a ENY car so you'll find a set paired to a non-CBTC car for the (J)(M)(Z) if needed, no matter the time of day (less likely during rush hours)

Well, guess what? An R160 is an R160 and will stay an R160 for the rest of its life (unless something happens to it). An R160 does not make a difference in appearance whether it is CBTC equipped or not (except for that blue sticker).

R160A 8313-8376 supplement R143 8101-8312, since there are only 152 R143s (out of 212), correct? The R143 and R160A look similiar.

208 R143 cars run out of ENY,4 cars are OOS.R160A-1 cars #8313-8376 can and do run on the (J)(M)(Z) lines.

Today, when i went to visit the Jamaica lines (J)(M)(Z) since tday i dont have skool, i was passin by 4 R160A-1s on the (J) and (M). Its 10AM and after the 4th (J) train thats R160A-1 then (M), the (J) was the (L) set.

The cars were:

[8332-8329]-[8348-8345]

Few months ago, i saw once 8365-8368 coupled wit 8497-8500.

But, 8313-8376 makes its apperance once in a while on the (J) mostly.

My question is:

Why does R160A-1s 8313-8376 mostly makes its once in a while appearence on the (J) than the (M)?

They go where they are needed. You'll find them the most on the (L) but they will go on the (J)(M)(Z) IF THEY ARE NEEDED

Can someone lock this thread

  • 2 weeks later...

I keep forgetting to post this, but on Martin Luther King Day I could have sworn to see 9956 on the (L). I was on the (J) level at Broadway Junction and saw the last 4 cars had 9956 in it. It was hooked up to something in the 8400's as well. Those sets are not CBTC capable, so I have no clue what it was doing there.

I would have gotten a picture, but it was too far away :)

i think its either for the (Z) service to Broad St

but remember, 8313-8376 are (L)s while 8377-8652, 9943-9974 go as (J)(M)(Z)

and refreshin the CBTC: its also used for avaible service for more service which is mostly the (J)

To my results after this month of doin the (J)(M)(Z), 8313-8376 run on the (J) if needed now. It'll have 1% of chancce on the (M)(Z) cause now ive seen about 1-2 sets each day and it runs as a (J)

I'm glad you realized those trains can run elsewhere as needed. They're all R160's and maybe they were using these trains instead of a R42 for example.

Why?

Cuz this is the 4th thread about the same question. I don't know how else to explain it but this thread is done the moment it started
