3964 and 4147 will go to Zerega. 4186 still alive, unknown status. Everything else as we put together is scrap.

I have to wonder if there is a reason why E450-based cutaways aren’t ordered by the MTA, especially for Hudson RailLink and some Staten Island Division routes, like the S42, S54, S55, S56, and S57. Those routes, outside of school trips, are among the lowest ridership routes in the system (the SI routes).  (I also wonder if the Bronx could use it for the Bx24, Bx29, and Bx46, given that the Bx29 no longer serves Bay Plaza…moving the Bx46 to Gun Hill via a Bruckner deadhead.) This would be about a 50-60 bus fleet.

This is just my belief but I think the MTA doesn’t order mini buses due to the flexibility that running standard sized buses offer. The Bx46 could get away with the smaller buses but what happens if West Farms is short on standards and artics for the Bx6 but all they have are these mini buses ready to go? There are only a few routes that get low ridership so I don’t think having 50-60 mini buses in the entire system are worth it.

NICE Bus pulls that nonsense from time to time where you’ll see a mini bus on the n6 or n22 but that wouldn’t cut it in NYC.

This and some trips are interlined as well. Some small cutaways might work on one route and not another. You could have it so that the bus stays on one route while the drivers do reliefs but that’s not always possible.

I think that 3186 is either retired or long term storage because the last run was around the very beginning of the year. Don’t no about the rest.

....and as for the lowly utilized express bus routes?

What happened to 1306 College Point and 2483 Ulmer Park? 1306 hasn’t seen service since September 2022, and 2483 hasn’t seen any service since May 2023.

And what’s gonna happen to the remaining ECH Next Gens

2483  is under going long term maintenance and probably the same with 1306. As for the ECH NGs, people were saying that some would get transferred to other MBC depots but, I don’t know now…

Some are at Eastchester, some are at Zerega, some are in storage unless there are second thoughts. For now, they may not go to other MTA Bus depots due to more XD-40s and LFS arriving recently.
