Calvin Posted April 1 Share #38706 Posted April 1 (edited) There are 7 Next Generation buses that are at Eastchester. However, they are sidelined from service. Either they'll be put in storage or to LGA/JFK for removal of the units that are in the worst condition. 4247, 4345, 4485, 4487, 4488, 4506, 4588 Edited April 1 by Calvin

Nahh, sometimes I wish they never converted it to diesel because it failed badly. The rest of 2006/07 Orion VII Hybrids ended up outlasting the bus. Even the 2005 Orion VII’s were around for a little longer than 3563. Edited April 1 by NewFlyer 230

Most of these were in service less than a week ago, so I would not bother judging a bus' status until 3 or more weeks have passed.

Its been 14 years since the 20 was made to rush hours only. I doubt they'll change anything as they tend to carry air until 231st.

Unless if they make the Bx7 limited south of 231st, then the Bx20 won’t be full time.

If the bus system were to become free, I could see your "superroutes" becoming a reality with a 40% articulated fleet. 100%. That's my beef with most transit supporters. They do not understand that the less they pay for the buses, the less buses they will get. That does not mean they have to pay 100%, but 0% means that the bus funding will be subject to the political winds or fluctuating streams of money. In a free bus system and a paid rail system, we become WMATA overnight in terms of demographics. Outside of Manhattan, the class divide on the subways is not that strong today. The thing is with bicycling is that Citibike is operating at a loss and Lyft may be looking to dump it. The same people wanting publicly subsidized bike share complain about express bus and commuter rail subsidies.
Lawrence St Posted April 5 Share #38719 Posted April 5 Is 4950-4964 assigned out of MJQ? If so, why do I keep seeing units pop up on the Bx9?

Irving Zismannn Posted April 6 Share #38721 Posted April 6 Hi! I applied for two bus operator positions on the MTA website. When I check the status of my applications, under the Company column, one application is NYT and the other is MAB. Can someone please explain the difference between the two? Thanks!

You applied for positions at MTA New York City Transit & MTA Bus Company. NYCT are the bus depots in Brooklyn, Queens, & Staten Island. MTA Bus Company is the former private bus operators. I would go to the Transit Employment section of the Transit Forums here: https://www.nyctransitforums.com/forum/19-transit-employment/ People like @+Young+ should give better explanations regarding this.

First of all, thank you for tagging me. Second, @Irving Zismannn, welcome to the Forums! According to the top right of the first page of this PDF document, MAB actually stands for MaBSTOA and not MTA Bus Company. Anyways, as previously stated, you applied for a Bus Operator position with both MTA New York City Transit and MaBSTOA. You can read more about the history of MaBSTOA here, and you can find a list of the depots that are served by NYC Transit, MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company here and here. It is important to note that, according to this webpage, the exams for NYC Transit are Civil Service, while the exams for MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company are not Civil Service. The reason why I bring this up is because, if you read the Notice of Examination and the job posting carefully, not only will you get called for MaBSTOA sooner, providing you have your Commercial Driver License (CDL) or your Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) with the proper endorsement, but, sometime within the next month or two, you will have to take a Civil Service Examination for the New York City Transit Bus Operator position. Depending on how well you do on the Civil Service Examination will depend on how quickly you get hired as a Bus Operator for New York City Transit. Obviously, just like with everything else in life, there are "Pros" and "Cons" in regards to the Bus Operator positions for New York City Transit and MaBSTOA, respectively. Finally, going forward as per the guidelines of the forum, can you please "post in the relevant forum?" The correct forum for Exam 4615 for the Bus Operator position for New York City Transit can be found here, and the correct forum for the Bus Operator position for MaBSTOA can be found here. Again, welcome to the forums! Edited April 7 by +Young+
