I would cut the (R)(S) 42nd St, (S) Rockaway Shuttle, and (C).

The (N) would replace the (R) running between Continental & C.I via Whitehall

The (E) would replace the (C) and serve as a full express to The Rockaways(Rush hours and weekends), (A) would be fully local to Lefferts/The Rockaways.

The (J) would be extended to Bay Ridge all times.

As for the (N) replacing the (R), the (W) would serve Astoria all times, the (Q) retains its 2nd Av route.

Due to severe budget cuts, the MTA is forced to cut a minimum of four Subway Lines.....

What would you do? What re-routes?

(3) and (5) are eliminated EXCEPT for shuttles at the very northern end of their routes ( (3) bet. 135-148, (5) bet. 180-Dyre)

(4) runs to New Lots (express to Franklin Ave. in Brooklyn except late nights)

(C) is eliminated EXCEPT for a 2-4 TPH supplement between 168 and Chambers

(E) runs full-time to Euclid Avenue (select rush-hour runs, including all to/from 179 begin/end at Chambers) and late nights is extended to Lefferts Boulevard.

(J) Is no longer supported by the (Z) as that becomes its own line with no skip-stop

(N) is re-routed via the (R) north of 57th to 71-Continental at all times (and also runs local on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn and via the tunnel to Manhattan).

(R) is eliminated and is replaced by a new (Z) train between 95th and Essex Street (extended on Yard Runs to Broadway Junction).

(W) becomes a 24/7 Line Whitehall to Astoria.

Next:

A fire inside Bloomingdales knocks out power to the entire area underneath.  The 53rd, 60th and 63rd tunnels and the Lexington Avenue Line and SAS are ALL affected by this.

You haven’t cut 4 lines as required by the scenario. You’ve only partially cut 4 lines and 1 other.

Due to severe budget cuts, the MTA is forced to cut a minimum of four Subway Lines.....

What would you do? What re-routes?

Some (2) short-turn at 148 Street. All of them go to New Lots Avenue.

(3) is eliminated.

(4) trains go to Brooklyn College–Flatbush Avenue.

(5) trains go to Crown Heights–Utica Avenue.

(B) is eliminated.

(M) is truncated to Manhattan terminating at 96 Street.

(W) is eliminated.

(Z) is eliminated.

All of the above combined should be the equivalent of axing 4 full lines.

Assuming the 59th-Lex station is affected:

(4) Woodlawn to 86th St, Grand Central to Flatbush Avenue-Bklyn College

(5) Eastchester-Dyre/Nereid Ave to Grand Concourse shuttle only

(6) Pelham - 86th St, Grand Central to Brooklyn Bridge

Shuttle buses operate between 86th St and Grand Central. Customers encouraged to take (2) trains and take 42nd (S) to Grand Central.

(F) Trains operate from Coney Island to 57th St

(G) Train length increased, extended to 179th St via Express

Shuttle bus service provided from 57th St to Queens Plaza, making all (F) stops except Roosevelt Island, where Q102 is free to Queens Plaza

(M) provides service from Metropolitan to Broad St/Chambers St.

(N) Coney Island - 34th St via Local, Astoria - Queensboro Plaza shuttle

(R) Bay Ridge to Canal St via Local, 23rd St - Ely Ave to 71st Contiental via Local

(Q) Coney Island - 57th St via Express

49th St is skipped

(E) Canceled, Customers encouraged to take (7) to Court Square/Ely Ave

Shuttle buses from Lex/53rd to 42nd St/PABT

I would cut the (R)(S) 42nd St, (S) Rockaway Shuttle, and (C).

The (N) would replace the (R) running between Continental & C.I via Whitehall

The (E) would replace the (C) and serve as a full express to The Rockaways(Rush hours and weekends), (A) would be fully local to Lefferts/The Rockaways.

The (J) would be extended to Bay Ridge all times.

As for the (N) replacing the (R), the (W) would serve Astoria all times, the (Q) retains its 2nd Av route.

Seems like a smart idea, but it makes no sense to send the (N) to Forest Hills to have access to two yards. Your (W) would have no yards. Makes more sense to have the (W) go Queens Blvd Lcl to have access to Jamaica, and (N) to Astoria. But, at that point, you might as well call it the (R).....

Also, can’t the (J)’s R32 and R42 not clear Montague anymore?

Downtown

(D) Via (A) to west 4th street

(cool.png Via (C) to west 4th street

(E) Via The (F) to West 4th Street

Uptown

(D) Via (A) to 59th street

(cool.png Via (C) to 59th street

(E) Via (F) to 63rd/Lex then regular routing

Suspend all (C) Service in Manhattan and Brooklyn send the (F) to Euclid and the (G) to Coney Island

That kinda sounds like the past month's worth of reroutings. What a way to start off. :-)

Instead of suspending the (E), route it through the Crosstown Express Portion, terminating at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street station by re-utilizing the "ghost" platform.

Lexington Avenue service should be broken into two sections:

the (4) between Woodlawn and 125th Street [terminal on Uptown side], and between 42nd Street & Utica Avenue.

the (5) between Dyre Av & 125th Street [terminal and rerun on Downtown side].

the (6) between Pelham Bay & 125th Street [terminal on uptown side].

The (7) would have to connect passengers between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza with the (N) train broken between Times Sq & Stilwell Avenue, and the 31st Street shuttle.

the (R) can terminate at Queens Plaza and customers who need Manhattan should Xfer at 74th Street to use the (7) for the above scenario (since Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza are disjointed).

BTW, what is SAS?

I think I missed a detail that might ground this roleplay.

A power outage cuts power to the 53rd St tubes, the 63rd St Line, and the 6th Avenue Line, affecting (B)(D)(E)(F)(M) services. What happens now?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some other lines are also affected in this (interesting that 60th Street is unaffected):

(A) runs local between 145th and 168th Street

(B) is suspended

(C) is diverted to the Concourse line after 145th Street and runs to 205th Street in the Bronx.

(D) has alternating trains running to:

57th Street-6th Avenue via normal route to 47-50 and the (F) after that.

57th Street-7th Ave via the Broadway Line (some (D) trains continue to Ditmars Boulevard-Astoria)

(E) runs Jamaica Center to Court Square ONLY!

(F) runs as follows:

Some trains run Coney Island in Brooklyn to 57th Street-6th Avenue in Manhattan via normal route

Some trains run 179th Street to 21st-Queensbridge OR Roosevelt Island (depending on power issues) via normal route

Some trains run via the (G) between Roosevelt Avenue and Bergen Street, normal route otherwise.

(G) is extended to 71st-Continental to replace the (M) in Queens

After West 4th, (M) runs via 8th Avenue and Concourse Local to Bedford Park Boulevard in The Bronx, replacing the (E) between West 4th and 50th Street and then replaces the (B) and (D) between Columbus Circle and Bedford Park Boulevard.

(Q) runs to 57th Street-7th Avenue with select trains continuing to Astoria.

(W) is suspended.
