NX Express Posted March 1, 2012 Share #302 Posted March 1, 2012 Honestly, such single track shuttles cause more problems than they solve. Instead of closing the subway line outright, providing only one train will cause unsafe overcrowding at the platform. In addition, an issue is that the shuttle doesn't go anywhere useful...

Gorgor Posted March 1, 2012 Share #307 Posted March 1, 2012 You wouldn't short turn Brooklyn trains at Atlantic Avenue? If you don't, then the should run to New Lots Avenue at all times. I also made other changes. No real point in really having trains run in Brooklyn for only 3 stops. People are still going to need to transfer. And yeah, the would have to go to New Lots at all times, but I was just considering the regular day service pattern in my answer. And sending the down to Bowling Green via the would just back up the trains as well as get in the way of itself because both directions would have to use the same track to turn around. Might as well send it to Brooklyn because most of the people traveling to lower Manhattan on the are coming from the Upper East Side or transferring from a Queens train, not coming from the Bronx.

NX Express Posted March 1, 2012 Share #309 Posted March 1, 2012 Why not this: Extended to New Lots Av late nights. No trains between 86 St and Bowling Green. Trains turn at Bowling Green by wrong railing on the South Ferry loop. Trains run via the from 149 St to Nevins St. No trains south of 86 St. ( Suspended to reduce switching. Fresh Pond Posted March 2, 2012 Share #316 Posted March 2, 2012 York St is impassable. Challenge: provide as much alternative service as possible. Be creative. Every LFSA that's not being used will be used for shuttle bus work via the Manhattan Bridge and they would be doing 77 mph the whole way (you said be creative ) But in all seriousness... 1. Every other train from Queens will terminate at 2 Av 2. Some trains will go via Cranberry from Jay St to W. 4 St while others go via Crosstown 3. Shuttle buses will be provided between 2 Av and East Broadway. People to/from York St gotta use High St (its not that long of a walk, or just walk to Sands St for the B67 down to Jay St)
