How many tracks would be avalible?

The two express and local tracks have a rail condition. They all are usable except for the Northbound Express Track. However the tph is not going to hold all the trains. It wi over do the rails. Some trains can not pass because it would just make the whole line unusable for a period. Trains would also run at slower speeds

Ok...

(N)- Normal service, with some southbound trains terminating at 34 St-Herald Square.

(Q)- Local service, with some trains traveling via (:D line to 145 St.

(R)- Via (E) & (D) line between 36 St, Queens & Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn.

So we can use every track on Broadway except Nbound Express, but the others have rail conditions right?

(Q) suspended between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd/57th Street and Prospect Park in both directions. Use (R) or (:D train instead.

Southbound:

(R) Normal Service to Bay Ridge-95 St.

(N) Runs express between 57th St and Canal St then normal route to Coney Island

Northbound:

(Q) runs from Coney Island to Prospect Park. Use (:( for additional service.

(R) runs via (D) line between Dekalb Av and 47-50 Sts then on the (F) line between 47-50 Sts and 36 St. In order to make room for the (R) on 6 Av, (M) trains are running between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av

(N) runs via (R) between Atlantic Av-Pacific St and Canal St (via Whitehall) then local to Ditmars Blvd

Depending on where the damaged rail is on the Northbound track, some southbound (N) trains can terminate at 42/34 Sts.

Hey, here's one for everyone

59th St Columbus Circle & 42nd St Times Square are destroyed. No trains can stop or pass through. How do you re-route service? Also Remember that you CAN use Shuttle Bus service, but there are only so many extra buses.

Ok, not really. ;)

If 42 Street is destroyed, defeats purpose of subway.

Question: Is 42-PABT destroyed as well?

Here's my best effort on this one. However, I'm not sure what the 8th Avenue line has to do with it, since as you just said/implied, 8th Avenue only has access to the Culver line -- or in a pinch, Jamaica/Myrtle -- which doesn't help the Broadway Line terribly much.

(F) rerouted to 53rd Street.

(Mx) rerouted to Nassau Street, Montague Tunnel, 4th Avenue Local to Bay Ridge.

(N) runs from Astoria to Times Square only.

(Q) suspended, replaced by 24/7 B service.

(R) rerouted via 63rd Street, 6th Avenue express, 4th Avenue Express/Sea Beach.

(D) normal service, but slightly reduced to make room for additional (:P® trains.

(G) extended to 71st/Continental to replace the (M) (and the (R) at Queens Plaza).

I think you got a bit mixed up here. The 6 Av station at 34 St is also closed. After all, it's also called 34 St - Herald Sq...

(A) regular service.

(:P suspended.

(C) 168 St-World Trade Center via CPW/8 Av local

(D) 205 St-Coney Island via CPW/8 Av local, Houston Street, Culver line.

(E) Jamaica Center-Euclid Avenue via 53rd Street/8 Av Express, Fulton local.

(F)(G) One train runs from 179th to Church Avenue via Crosstown, the other is suspended, doesn't really matter what you call it.

(Mx) Metropolitan to Coney Island (Sea Beach)

(N) shuttle from Astoria to Times Square.

(Q) Whitehall Street to Coney Island (Brighton local)

(R) shuttle from 36th to 95th.

(ETA: I realized I also forgot you could turn trains from Brooklyn at West 4th. It may make more sense to run the (Q) to West 4th and the (R) up to Whitehall, but I'm not really sure how much difference it would actually make.)

My solution was similar:

(A) Regular service.

(:( Runs via the (F) from West 4 St to Coney Island - Stillwell. Transfer at B'way-Laf for Brighton service.

(C) Runs express from 145 St to Canal St.

(D) Runs via the (C) from 145 St to West 4 St, then via the (F) to Stillwell Av. Other trains run between West 4 St and Stillwell Av via normal route.

(E) Selected trains run express from 34 St - Penn Sta to Canal St.

(F) No trains between Times Sq - 42 St and Stillwell Av. Transfer at 42 St for the (;)(D) to Brooklyn. Trains run via 63 St, bypass 49 St (no matter on which track), and switch south of 57 St.

(M) Runs via the (E) from 5 Av - 53 St to West 4 St.

(N) No trains between Lex Av / 60 St and West 4 St.

(Q) No trains between Astoria - Ditmars Bl and West 4 St.

(R) No trains between 47/50 Sts and Whitehall St. Trains run via 63 St, switching south of 57 St.

NEXT

Canal St on the 8 Av and B'way Lines is closed. No trains may pass or stop.
