Lance Posted December 1, 2014 Share #2460 Posted December 1, 2014 It's the weekend. No one's manning the Bedford-Nostrand tower. That means when something forces the suspension of the G in one section, the entire line gets shut down.

MTA Dude Posted December 1, 2014 Share #2462 Posted December 1, 2014 they can't send someone down there? Exactly. Maybe have that in affect for 10 minutes, then when they arrive, resume service.
CenSin Posted December 1, 2014 Share #2463 Posted December 1, 2014 they can't send someone down there? It's probably cheaper to get someone to operate the tower temporarily than to round up bus drivers for a shuttle line.
Abba Posted December 1, 2014 Share #2464 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) That's crazy.Lets say something big would happen that would cause a much bigger delay.Im sure they would call someone in to the Bedford-Nostrand Tower. Its not fair to cut off the whole just becuase something happens in that section. RollOver Posted December 1, 2014 Share #2467 Posted December 1, 2014 The answer is quite simple. Any rerouting of other lines results in their waiting time adjusted to make more room for another train line.

Many typos there. can't run local north of 36th St, and they have to include DeKalb due to the switches at Atlantic being OOS. And I found out why. Estimating that most switches are 80 feet long, the switch there is estimated 60 feet long, which is too sharp for trains to go on.

The one going southbound doesn't
RtrainBlues Posted December 3, 2014 Share #2474 Posted December 3, 2014 Even if the southbound switch from DeKalb to Atlantic Ave express track were to be restored, the train would go so SLOWLY over that switch that it's typically faster to just run the train local. If you need a connection to the R southbound, hopefully the connection would be held at DeKalb instead in that circumstance.
