Orion VII 4 Life Posted October 26, 2012 Share #126 Posted October 26, 2012 The Central New York RTA board is voting today to purchase two Orion VII demonstrator buses at a reduced price of $200,000 each (vs. the $431,000 price for each of the 40-foot CNG's Centro purchased from Orion last year). Probably our buses...
RailBus63 Posted October 26, 2012 Share #127 Posted October 26, 2012 Probably our buses... No, they are the Orion demonstrators. We saw them parked out back at the Centro garage during the Motor Bus Society convention visit earlier this month. One is green and the other is orange. Burrstone Posted October 28, 2012 Share #131 Posted October 28, 2012 The next time you are on an Orion take a minute to think about the people up in Oriskany, NY who built it (& the people who delivered it) and think how they're out of a job right before the holidays. Thanks for the ride Orion!

Chargerdodge9 Posted November 2, 2012 Share #136 Posted November 2, 2012 This is so stupid! Why didn't they just roll out the Orion VIII? They were only weeks away from displaying one!

Because the big shots in Germany decided to piss away all the money they invested in Orion.
ttcsubwayfan Posted November 2, 2012 Share #139 Posted November 2, 2012 Did they manage to complete all outstanding contracts, or did they not finish some?
Orion VII 4 Life Posted November 3, 2012 Share #140 Posted November 3, 2012 This is so stupid! Why didn't they just roll out the Orion VIII? They were only weeks away from displaying one! That's the question I've always wanted answered, that could have been a big thing for Orion as well as the Orion 9 artic.
Turbo19 Posted November 3, 2012 Share #141 Posted November 3, 2012 For what it's worth, Orion finally updated it's website. However, it seems as if it was done hastily. http://www.orionbus.com/ Enjoy, if you can.
User Posted November 3, 2012 Share #142 Posted November 3, 2012 Oh yeah, since they're not building anymore, the blueprints, designs or any more information on the Orion IX articulated should be released. What a crappy site. The old one was better. The site is nowhere near finished yet. The template is copied from the new website that was being worked on, that was just about finished, but never had a chance to go live before Daimler announced it was closing Orion. All I see is a customized Drupal templated website. If they put that up, they should put up everything that they've worked on so far.
