aemoreira81 Posted August 23, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2012 They're actually in the Bronx Park storage just north of the depot. And believe it or not, most of the 5200s and 5300s (108 of 150) are retired. Their replacements were the new LFS artics.

youngblaze Posted August 23, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 23, 2012 Believe it or not but each 5200 I've driven has hauled some serious a** very similar to the 02-03 batch. 5267, 5294, 5295 and 5296 are really good buses.
MHV9218 Posted August 23, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2012 The 5200-5300s have always moved better than the higher number D60s for whatever reason when I've been on them. I passed Zerega the other day and most of the ex-Manhattan 53xx buses were there, you're saying they went to the storage lot?
trainfan22 Posted August 23, 2012 Share #7 Posted August 23, 2012 Sucks to 12 year old buses retired at well... 12 years old lol. I was hoping these Flyers would make it to 15, they can't send these Artics to JFK and BP?

RailBus63 Posted August 23, 2012 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2012 Sucks to 12 year old buses retired at well... 12 years old lol. I was hoping these Flyers would make it to 15, they can't send these Artics to JFK and BP? It probably has a lot to do with the D60HF's low MDBF numbers. I believe the numbers have generally been lower for this bus model compared to other buses in the MTA fleet over the years, and old buses get even less reliable as they age. I was hoping these Flyers would make it to 15, they can't send these Artics to JFK and BP? They could and just kill them off from there, but the problem is that those 2 depots aren't artic-ready just yet
R32 3838 Posted August 24, 2012 Share #11 Posted August 24, 2012 They could and just kill them off from there, but the problem is that those 2 depots aren't artic-ready just yet Basiley can handle 5 of them at the moment, they had 5 before, next year they will be ready to handle about 30-40 of them
