There is no fee to apply for the conductor position online. Who is planning to apply for the conductor position? Good luck to all to everyone that is applying for conductor exam. paulrivera Posted September 7, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2012 There is no fee online because you pay the fee the day of your exam. I kinda like it this way; since the first step is basically a lottery (like the B/O exams), you are not suckered in to paying the $54 if they don't call your list number for the exam. From the NOE: Candidates who are scheduled for the multiple-choice test will be required to pay a $54.00 examination fee on the date of the test. The examination fee must be paid in the form of a money order.
SubwayRat1978 Posted September 8, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2012 It tells me I applied for the exam, yet I did not get an e-mail confirmation - is that normal?

Rick44 Posted September 9, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2012 I applied and I did not get an email confirmation either. I checked the spam & trash folders. I'm not sure if we're supposed to get one. The site does say I've applied though.

Den Posted September 9, 2012 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2012 Do these conductors ever get promoted to Engineer? How do they usually get their engineers? I applied for this position even though Im already on the 8098 T/O list.
mark1447 Posted September 12, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 12, 2012 Your not going to get an Email from the system. The email is just used just in case you forget your password/user ID. Once you finish applying, it should tell you that you have successfully applied. (With an option to print your confirmation) Just so everyone knows this position is not civil service . I'm curious if you are allowed to transfer to NYCTA via Open Competitive exam. Just like switching from OA to TA.

I would believe so...but if u mean like how current mta employees take the promo tests and leave out of theur current position I doubt it. It would most likely be treated as if you didnt work for the MTA, but with all that "You will not be..." in the NOE even if we were to get the position in a lot of ways we wouldnt be...no scratch that the NOE actually says we wont be. I applied for this position even though Im already on the 8098 T/O list. Engineers are sourced from conductors only. Only one engineer that I knew there came straight as engineer without having been a C/R first but he had previous operating experience. Your not going to get an Email from the system. No but you can apply for any NYCT exam just like joe public and will be treated as such.

hekboogie Posted September 14, 2012 Share #14 Posted September 14, 2012 Hello guys, i'm new to the site. I just apllied for the conductor exam. I was looking for some sort of practice exam or book to help me study for the test. Any help? thanks in advance
paulrivera Posted September 16, 2012 Share #15 Posted September 16, 2012 Those Passbooks study guides more than likely won't help at all because that was written for the NYC Subway conductor's exam (SIR is a completely different operation), and even for the NYCT exam it didn't help much. Y2Julio Posted September 16, 2012 Share #16 Posted September 16, 2012 Don't bother buying any exam books for any conductors exams. They're useless. It's all reading comprehension and basic math. Read the questions carefully, take your time and you'll be fine.

mtahopeful Posted November 27, 2012 Share #18 Posted November 27, 2012 Just so everyone knows this position is not civil service . Could you explain to me the differences between a civil service transit job versus a non-civil service transit job as far as hiring practices and retirement policies are concerned? AlliTransit Posted December 8, 2012 Share #22 Posted December 8, 2012 I see that this exam has been rescheduled to February 4, 2013. Have they chosen who will be allowed to take the exam yet?
