B/O 4600 Hiring Process

Message added by +Young+

BUS OPERATOR #4600

List Status Update: 1/16/22 The list for this specific exam has been extended to January 6th, 2024.

Training: See the DOB New Hire FAQ topic for more information.

Next Scheduled Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more information.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing.

Next, for those of you who are still waiting, you folks might want to check out this and this YouTube video. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com which is free!! Remember, the multiple-choice tests you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

Finally, if you need to make an appointment at the DMV to take the multiple-choice examinations for your Commercial Learner's Permit, click here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help each other.

Good luck!

I would like to know as well what a 98.6% would roughly get you on the list for 4600. Can I count on being in the top 600???

It all depends on several factors. First, we still have to take the BOSS (Bus Operator Selective Survey) this upcoming year. If you don't pass that, you are not on the list! Several, it depends on how many other people took the exam and how the other people did.

Example - when I took exam 2613, I got a 87.50% with a list # in the 270s. Now, if a lot more people had taken the exam and got 90s on that exam, my list # would have been lower. However, considering only 3,621 people passed the test out of 36,000, I didn't do that bad.

What I also learned is that if several people get the same score on the exam, their list # will be based on when they filed for the exam.

Example: Let's say that Bravo applied on August 20th, Whiskey applied on August 8th and Fox applied on August 14th (refer to http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/26925-nato-phonetic-alphabet/ in case you are wondering how I came up with those names). All of these people got the same score on the exam. On the list, Whiskey would be first, since he applied first, Fox second and Bravo last, respectively.

I appreciate the responce and thanks for the info but I already knew all of that. Im just assuming that im going to pass the BOSS exam. I took under consideration how easy the test is, about how many people got 100% (Which I dont think is more than 200 people) and looking at all the people who posted their scores here I didnt see anybody claim a perfect score here and most people I saw here were getting 3-5 wrong range. I only got 1 wrong in the proposed answer key so thats why I was asking if I could feel confertable being in A top 600 slot

I too got a 100% . That's why I inquired about a "perfect" score on my previous post/reply to boogie but I try not to toot my horn. I am just fortunate that abacadaba worked!!! (Lol, picking ABACADABA down the line to the end of test.)

Wonder when we will be taking the BOSS exam.

Definitely sometime this year. If not June, then perhaps the fall. Keep in mind that with the number of people, using a NYC Public High School, like when we initially took our civil service exam, would be the easiest, and they are closed during the summer months...
