Airplanepilotgod8888 Posted September 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2013 Have any one heard of this mystery in Brooklyn Heights? 58 Joralemon street is a secret subway ventilator substation and emergency exit for the and trains running trough the Joralemon street tunnel. Its is hidden by a fake facade.58 Joralemon street is in the center of those very normal Brooklyn brown stones. 58 Joralemon street has very mysterious dark non-transparent windows. You can also tell by the sealed of part where the basement windows and a door should be.
Kamen Rider Posted September 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2013 It's not a mystery nor is it a secret...
MHV9218 Posted September 14, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 14, 2013 I mean, it's a hidden building with a fake exterior. That's pretty secretive by every definition of the word, if you ask me. Never knew about this, interesting.
ttcsubwayfan Posted September 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2013 I think what he means is that if people know about, and know exactly what it is, it can't be considered secretive or mysterious.

Via Garibaldi 8 Posted September 14, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 14, 2013 Interesting... So who is in charge of maintaining the building?
lirr42 Posted September 15, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2013 Interesting... So who is in charge of maintaining the building? I can't be sure, but it's probably the same people who maintain all the other ventilation buildings.
Eric B Posted September 15, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 15, 2013 Never knew they put windows on it. It used to have plain louvers, making it look sort of abandoned. So this was a good idea to make it fit in more.

Airplanepilotgod8888 Posted September 15, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted September 15, 2013 Hears some history on 58 Joralemon street. 58 Joralemon street was built in 1847 as a "normal" house and in 1908 converted to what it is now when the joralemon street tunnel opened in January 9,1908.The Interborough Rapid Transit company (IRT) began there on the IRT eastern parkway line that same year. Eric B Posted September 18, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 18, 2013 True. Guess they don't want false windows, because they would be easier to break into from the ground. Though would have been better off with just bricked up windows, instead of a solid black surface.
