It shouldn't be a problem. If you're on medication then you will list it when they ask and that's it.

Thanks. Some people made it sound a lot more complicated. I suspect they didn't know they were diabetic and found out at the MTA medical.... Maybe that's the difference. 🙏

Hey! For anyone interested and in the process of becoming a conductor, I have two  black KAKA backpacks (highly recommended in school car) that were rarely used and are in fairly good condition. I been out on the road for 10 months now and have been using my old Northface back for the longest. If anyone interested, it’s theirs for a very good price. Send me a message

I renewed my number but someone from NYCT said that my name would appear the next time dcas send them over a list. Does anyone know how often this happens? Is it possible I can get in for this upcoming class?

For me it was fast. I sent the email to LMACustomerService@dcas.nyc.gov on 8/16/20. On 8/23/20 I received an email I was restored to the list. I started school car on 9/12/20.

I got my reinstatement notification on 4/20. So I'm hoping to get called if there is an upcoming one.

Hi

How long does it take from medical to car class please?

Medical is whenever they call you for it. If you are cleared for everything you get sworn in the same day. For Conductor school, it starts May 30th.

2 pre-employments bc of a medical hold?

No I haven't done medical yet. It's common to do 1-3 pre-employments because they only last for 90 days due to the drug test expiring. If it's past 90 days they'll most likely call you back in to do another.

Copy, that was my second guess since they take forever for processing. Ty.

I honestly forgot about my name being on this list and figured that I wouldn't be contacted before the list expired.

List # 64xx

Now that they have extended the list and there's a possibility of them reaching my number I've already been contacted for pre-employment for exam 7604.

Well the day has finally come that I got sworn in, 6 years of waiting and it finally happened. Just to give you guys some insight if you do medical, arrive as early as you can. They go by a first come first serve basis so I was out by 12 since I was the first one. When you do medical you do a Hearing test, EKG, Urine test and vision test, after you do all this you see a Doctor who does a psychical and eventually clears you. Once you're cleared you're basically hired that same day! They went over some paperwork, swore me in, gave me some info on the next class, took my picture for my ID and fingerprints and that was it.

Some other advice I would give is make sure all your paperwork is in order, cause they will give you a hard time. For the money order it has to be from the post office or they will not take it. Also be ready to be on a medical hold if you're obese and have a 17in+ measure around your neck. Usually this is a sign for sleep apnea and they will make you get a test before they clear you so book an appointment ASAP if this is you. The process took forever and I was lost for a while, so below I will give a timeline for anybody that is in the same boat on how hiring works:

Took Conductor test 6601 - 4/24/2016

List Number 49xx

Got an email for first Pre-employment- 11/24/21

Got a 2nd email for Pre-employment again - 4/7/2022 (It's very common to do 1-3 pre-employments)

Got an email for Medical - 5/6/2022 (Basically your hired if you're clear for medical)

Class started- 5/30/2022

I will keep you guys posted on how Conductor training goes down the line! (If anybody has advice on Conductor training please PM ME!!)

I received an email to take an oral assessment for conductors next month after 5 years of waiting. Does anyone know the current entry level pay? The only information I can find online would mean the pay has stayed the same for 5 years..
