Oh ok thank you so much Thank you so much to telling me all this , I a really appreciate , of course I will wait and go and take my test and the once I am in i came move to other positions , I would like the train operator how about vacation , how does vacation work, do you have to take vacation in specific time or month and how many week you get your first year etc ? -
It is ABSOLUTELY worth it, trust me I would not be where I am now if it wasn't for the opportunity that was the Attendant Terminal Appearance position. And that's the beauty of it, you don't need to stay there the rest of career, you can go virtually anywhere in the railroad once you get in. As for your question on what to study, there really isn't anything to study for this particular test, most of it is just reading and understanding short passages and labels and being able to answer basic questions. The "Attendant Terminal Appearance" job title is super fancy but it is essentially a "Grand Central Building Services Custodian" job. The test will give you basic questions about things such as cleaning tools and products. For example, You'll be shown a bleach bottle label and asking you questions about what you read. It's far easier than I make it sound, no math, no reading comprehension, no mechanical aptitude just basic questions. As for job performance, well it's a custodial job, it's not pretty but it's good neccesary work. You will work with a crew of around 20-25 other terminal attendants per shift, AM, PM, and Overnight (It's been a while since I been there, but the overnight guys are awesome!!!). You will be given a small detail where you have 8 hours to complete. Very easy job, and very rewarding knowing you help maintain one of the busiest, foot trafficked locations in NYC. -
Oh ok thank you so much , yes I just want to find out about as much as I can before going into it , like k said I work as doorman , I made 28 and hour easy job great health care charisma bonus at the end of year etc just that usually you never go anywhere just being a doorman , but I will see I have my test next in 2 week , I would love to know what is the best about , cause I have not idea what to study , also I would love to know what is the job performance there etc I will have to think very well about it well cause as make 28 going to 24 and then wait like 8 year to get 34 could be worth to wait

Got any ideas? I will be flying in to take the test #4605 for Train Operator. I will have a back pack with a few items in it, as well as a tablet and cellphone. The test instructions are quite clear in that these items aren’t allowed into the test site. Are there any lockers available nearby? I’d hate to have to rent a room just to keep my valuables/backpack in, as I’d hope to fly out that evening. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -
its pretty long, I took the last test back in 2016/17 and only got called in 2022 -
Terminal Attendants earn $34.48 per hour as per the most recent contract. As a new employee however, you'd be making 70% of that initially so $24.14 will be roughly what you earn an hour when you start. A bit of a pay cut for you, but the benefits and opportunity to move both within the union and out of it are more than worth it. The union you'd be going to (TCU) is solid. It's not great, and alot of concessions have been made the past few contracts that have screwed newer employees (such as increasing the rate of progression from 5 years to 7 to 8), but overall it is a solid union that generally goes to the bat when it's employees need them. Also, TCU I believe covers the most jobs of any union in MNR, so as long as you pass tests like the BRAC, ATK, Typing etc, you can essentially move to any job you want within the union and there are PLENTY to choose from, Terminal Attendant, Traveling Custodian, CDL Custodian, Machine Operator, Ticket Seller, Station Ambassador, Crew Dispatcher, Financial Clerk, Inventory Control Clerk and so on...
