City doesn’t own the Staten Island Expwy. That’s also state? Even if that’s the case HOV lanes should of been addressed years ago for NYS Thruway (Bronx Extension) I’d do the same with 278 and New England Thruway for HOV lanes.
I don’t want a grand tour of Queens before reaching Downtown Manhattan. They did this route all wrong. Again, I’m very ignorant when it comes to The Bronx and Staten Island express bus service. However, through studying the routes and reading comments from others I try my hardest to provide a decent opinion in regards to faster service into the Downtown business district.
At least the good thing here everything is non-stop to Co-Op City.
I smell complaints on a few of these proposals.. Plus a discontinuation of the Bx38. If anything retain all Co-op City bus service. Whether it's local or express.
However, this new Co-Op City // Downtown Manhattan Express is a doozy. A grand tour of Queens before you reach Manhattan.. I'd scream HELL on this. If these planners were smart. I'd go 278 to Triboro. Triboro to 2nd Avenue (Express to 86th). Right on 86 to West End Avenue. Left on West End Avenue to Downtown with corresponding Hudson Yards- Javits Convention Center @ 34th and 12th with subway connection to train to East side than stop to Chambers. Right on Chambers to Battery Park City and Water Street.
Right now I'm skimming thru the rest of the proposals. The other bad one I see is the Bx40/42. I don't know who complains first.. River Park Towers Patrons or Throggs Neck Patrons. Basically what the TA is telling you that we will streamline service. But also beware that bus cuts and a route dis-continuation is coming!
More commentary soon! PS: I'm scared for Brooklyn re-design and I'm prepared for a s**t show.
So far within the last month:
2 RTS from FB
4 HEV G1’s from MV saved from the scrap yard and used for training purposes.
Hope all of those buses get a fresh coat of paint and preserved.
I think the Yukon buses transferred to Manhattanville, MQ, and FB have readers too. Will those be active by PM rush or is it Staten Island only launch?
Here’s the problem at the present time. FB can’t absorb the 47 right now. Unless a major shake up in the Brooklyn Division don’t expect FB to get this route.
That is accurate. I’ve seen it happen recently. Put to you this way. Seen it as of Monday Morning AM rush and mid-days and that’s a new sign.
I believe the Glenwood/Flatlands cut is either Left on East 73rd, Right on K, Right on Ralph than regular OR right on Padegrat Avenue So., right on East 59th, right on H, left on Ralph than regular.
#facts.
All this sequential bus ordering stopped right after the 2015 orders. As always you tell folks that these orders are SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE and they persist that things want to be done in their way and it doesn’t work like that.
Plus DOB is going thru a shakeup. So again, it doesn’t bear to repeat: all changes are SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE AND I will copy @FLX9304 statement: : THE DOB IS THE ENEMY AND THE ENEMY SHOWS NO MERCY
Just spotted 8100 (JA) on tow in Downtown Brooklyn- Atlantic Avenue. From what it appears it’s heading to The Bronx for some work.
Random Thoughts: Last night in Downtown Brooklyn 3 Gleason buses on shuttle are sporting 30x240 Super Kongs billboards also some Flatbush SBS buses have Northfield Bank billboard 30x215 and Harbor Fitness.
Of course. No stress about that. Everything always changes with the .
Great report on the JFK situation. So as far as we know right now (correct me please) 75/76xx buses should be going to Quill, and some 78xx batches going to Jamaica and presumably West Farms (once everything is finalized). I believe Fresh Pond and Grand Avenue received their allotments for this order.
