Joel Up Front Posted December 11, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2010 The reason why those Bugattis have that ugly ass grille is an homage to the 1930s, the last time the mother****er was relevant in the auto world, with wins at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 and 1939. With World War II following the '39 race, the race was postponed and most of the manufacturers that survived (Bentley being a good example) had a hard time after the war and ended up being taken over or are otherwise in some weird financial situation. And the Veyron is named for the man who drove a Bugatti to the finish line at Le Mans in 1939, Pierre Veyron. I don't care if this thing goes well beyond 240 MPH and is still road legal - it looks like polished ****, needs 4 turbochargers and an oversized engine to get to 200+, and even minivans actually weigh LESS than this thing does.
