Hey! One of the Grumman Flxibles!

Oh the irony. :P

But that's deferred maintenance for you, things didn't start to change on till the mid 80's, even to this day we are still fixing the subway's problems that old TA and the city from the 60's and 70's didn't take care of.that why we have so many weekend service changes.

I've watched this clip many times and it never gets old to me. It's something to see what NY was like in 1983. It was a VERY different place. It was cool to see the old cars that used to be on the (1), the Grummans and even the RTS. What a time I tell you. :P

point is BART was not immune from problems. The teething problems it's automation system had, of which the Flyer was just one, must have made getting the trains moving a headache some days.

then there was the fire the closed the tube for 4 months in 1979, killed a fire firefighter and lead to a $120,000 seat replacement program.

Fair enough and you're right. My overall point is that BART was one of the few TAs in the country that actually prospered in the 1970s.
