Bonanza123d Posted March 4, 2011 #2 Posted March 4, 2011 Holy Metrocard! I am surprised at your collection
Donald Posted March 4, 2011 #3 Posted March 4, 2011 You have any blue Metrocards? I wonder if those are worth any money.
Joel Up Front Posted March 4, 2011 #5 Posted March 4, 2011 But only true transit fans will have the old school blue MetroCard...
QM1to6Ave Posted March 4, 2011 #6 Posted March 4, 2011 I read that those blue metrocards end up on ebay every once in a while. I believe I read that they go for around $50.00, in general, but I might be mistaken,
bknightshadow45 Posted March 4, 2011 #7 Posted March 4, 2011 I used to collect Metrocards. I think I still have at least one blue Metrocard before it got discontinued.
ladyjay114 Posted March 19, 2011 #8 Posted March 19, 2011 I still have my Blue metrocard from HS. I went to Bergtraum HS and in 1995-1996 we were the pilot school for the School Metrocards. They were blue and had our pictures on the back
Gorgor Posted March 19, 2011 #9 Posted March 19, 2011 How did you get all of those metrocards in under a year? Please don't tell me you went around picking them off of the ground...
Grand Concourse Posted March 19, 2011 #10 Posted March 19, 2011 lmao! True about that ^. That is a crazy amount of cards. I've been collecting cards that I've used, but don't have anywhere near that many. You have any blue Metrocards? I wonder if those are worth any money. I have one. Dunno, one can always put one up on ebay and see how desperate people are to get it. I'm not selling mine.
8thAveExpress Posted March 19, 2011 #11 Posted March 19, 2011 I still have a mint blue metrocard still in the plastic... do you think it's worth anything?
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted March 20, 2011 #12 Posted March 20, 2011 That guy is probably going to have a whole room of nothing by Metrocards...
Amtrak7 Posted March 20, 2011 #13 Posted March 20, 2011 How did you get all of those metrocards in under a year? Please don't tell me you went around picking them off of the ground... What's wrong with that?
Gorgor Posted March 21, 2011 #14 Posted March 21, 2011 What's wrong with that? Well first off they're garbage, which is why they're on the ground in the first place. Second, they're dirty from the disgusting floor and the rats roaming around. And third, bending down to grab a piece of plastic that someone found useless after they used it up and then you're going to put it on display and brag about it? [insert facepalm image here]
LRG Posted March 21, 2011 #15 Posted March 21, 2011 Well first off they're garbage, which is why they're on the ground in the first place. And third, bending down to grab a piece of plastic that someone found useless after they used it up and then you're going to put it on display and brag about it? [insert facepalm image here] It's his collection. Let him do as he pleases. And that's nothing something called "cleaning" can't fix.
Joel Up Front Posted March 21, 2011 #16 Posted March 21, 2011 gorgor being mad *inserts facepalm image here*
trainfan22 Posted March 21, 2011 #17 Posted March 21, 2011 Well first off they're garbage, which is why they're on the ground in the first place. I have no issue with what the OP does whatsoever (I pretty much do the same thing with maps) but the post quoted was amusing.
Guest lance25 Posted March 21, 2011 #18 Posted March 21, 2011 @Joel...: Talk about a facepalm overload.
Amtrak7 Posted March 21, 2011 #19 Posted March 21, 2011 I LOL'd. I have no issue with what the OP does whatsoever (I pretty much do the same thing with maps) but the post quoted was amusing. I do do that with maps... pick up one wherever I see one in reasonable condition. Looks like over the summer I'll be commuting to NYC daily, then I can go to 3 Stone on my way home!
R42 M Train Posted March 21, 2011 #20 Posted March 21, 2011 I do do that with maps... pick up one wherever I see one in reasonable condition. Looks like over the summer I'll be commuting to NYC daily, then I can go to 3 Stone on my way home! What exactly is 3 stone st? people mention it all the time. As for MC collecting, whats wrong with that. I save the ones with the "Fun Facts" and the SBS ones like I do with Snapple caps. There is nothing wrong with collecting but hoarding is a different story.
R42 M Train Posted March 21, 2011 #22 Posted March 21, 2011 lol. thanks Matt but I asked What exactly is there to do there?
MattTrain Posted March 21, 2011 #23 Posted March 21, 2011 Sorry about that, I misunderstood. Anyways you can get bus maps, subway maps, bus/subway timetables and metrocard forms there.
Grand Concourse Posted March 21, 2011 #24 Posted March 21, 2011 It's his collection. Let him do as he pleases. And that's nothing something called "cleaning" can't fix. Truth. I wouldn't collect every single card, but if it interests me and I don't have it yet, on occasion I will do the same. I pick it up and wrap it in a paper napkin [that i use to hold on to the metal bars on trains and buses]. And when I get home, I just rinse it under water in a sink, dry it up and done. No fuss about it.
R42 M Train Posted March 21, 2011 #25 Posted March 21, 2011 Sorry about that, I misunderstood. Anyways you can get bus maps, subway maps, bus/subway timetables and metrocard forms there. No problem! It seems like a pretty cool place.
