Subway - What If?

This will be easy.

(A): Trains make all stops in Manhattan.

(:((D): Trains run local in both direction in Manhattan.

(Q): Trains run local and all trains terminate/originate at Ditmars Blvd during these times.

NEXT:

Due to terror threat at Roosevelt Island Tram Station, nearby Roosevelt Island, Lexington Av-63rd St and 68th St-Hunters College and 59th St-Lex Av Stations are closed.

The problem with your solution is that (A)(C)(E) trains can't all fit on one track, and (:)(D)(F)(M) trains can't all fit on one track.

@your plan:

(N) No trains north of 57 St. Trains run via tunnel.

(Q) No trains north of 57 St.

(R) No trains north of 36 St, Brooklyn.

(4) No trains between 86 St and 42 St. Trains run local 42 St - Brooklyn Bridge.

(5) Trains run via the (2) in Manhattan.

(6) No trains south of 86 St.

(F) Trains run via (E) 5 Av/53 St to Roosevelt Av.

(M) No trains between 71/Continental and 57 St (F).

NEXT

5 Av / 53 St impassable.

(F) is re-routed via Crosstown

(4)(5)(6) since its under 68th St I would assume sending trains wouldn't be safe so the (4) runs to 125th St,(5) via 7th Av,(6) runs btwn Pelham and 86th

N/B Lex Service (4) runs btwn Crown Hts and Grand Central and also the (6)

(N)(Q) terminates at 57th and (R) terminates at 34

For 5th Avenue/53rd Street being out:

The Spring Street C/E station is temporarily closed.

C only runs in Brooklyn from Euclid-Hoyt/Schermerhorn, terminating on the normally-unused "local" track at Hoyt. The Transit Museum trains are temporarily moved so the C can use the Transit Museum Station at Court Street for shifting.

E runs via the F from West 4th-71st Continental and then regular route. A special Shuttle train operates between 71st-Continental (replacing the M, see below) and Lexington Avenue-53rd Street.

B, D and F run their normal routes.

M is re-routed via 8th Avenue to replace the C and E between West 4th and 50th Street (E)/Columbus Circle (C), then continues to replace the C to 168th Street.

Since you didn't, i'll propose a new scenario:

Due to construction of a new underground passageway from Barclay's Center to Atlantic Terminal, the (B /(Q) station & the (2)/(3)(4)/(5) local tracks are closed. Pacific Street is unaffected. All Atlantic Terminal LIRR trains have been rerouted to LIC. Just reroute subway lines.

Remember:

4 Avenue can't handle 5 lines.

The IRT Brooklyn Express tracks can't handle 4 lines.

Actually 4 Av can handle 5 lines.

Since each line (B, D, N, Q, R) runs 8 tph, three can run on one track and two on the other.

My solution to this:

(B) Trains run Brighton Beach - Coney Island - (West End / 4 Av Exp) - Pacific St - regular route to Bronx.

(D)

(N) Trains run via the (R) in both directions between Prince St and 59 St (Brooklyn).

(Q) Trains run Prospect Park - Coney Island - (Sea Beach / 4 Av Exp) - Pacific St - regular route to Queens.

(R)

(2) No service south of Wall St.

(3) Suspended

(4) Trains run local from Franklin to New Lots Avs.

(5)

Next: Due to Empire State Building collapse, 34th St-Herald Sq and 33rd St PATH Stations are closed. No track access on subway or PATH.

Affected: B, D, F, M, N, Q, PATH trains.

(B) 24 / 7 line, Coney Island, via Brighton Local to West 4 St.

(C) Trains run express 59 St to Canal St.

(D) No trains between 47/50 Sts and West 4 St. Trains at 47/50 relay via the crossover south of 57 (F).

(F) Trains operate via the (E) in both directions between Roosevelt Av and W4 St.

(J) Extended to 95 St via 4 Av Local.

(M) Trains run via Nassau and Sea Beach to Coney Island.

(N) No trains between Times Square and Coney Island.

(Q) Suspended

(R) Trains run via 63 St and terminate at 57 St/7 Av.

(Z) Skip-stop suspended.

PATH All trains to 33 St operate to either Hoboken or WTC.

Alternatives:

Bronx/CPW to Brooklyn (B / D) - take the A or C between 59 St and W4 St.

Astoria to Brooklyn (N / Q) - take the 4 or 5 between 59 St and Canal St.

QBL to Brooklyn (R) - take the E or F to 53 St and transfer to the 6 to Canal St, where J service is available.

Closures

Nassau Line - just south of Essex St to Broad St. Chrystie Cut can be used.

N runs in two sections:

Ditmars Boulevard to Queensboro Plaza (transfer to 7 for Manhattan).

DeKalb Avenue or Atlantic-Pacific to Coney Island via regular route.

Q replaces the R between Queens Plaza-71st Avenue and runs via the F to West 4th and the B to Atlantic Avenue before resuming regular route.

R ends early, but shuttle is extended to Atlantic-Pacific.

NEXT:

Rail issue with the Montauge Street tunnel south of Whitehall on the Broadway line, however, the Montauge Street tunnel can be used from Nassau Street without any problems. Also, there is a problem with the Rutgers Street tunnel that has limited service on the F line through that tunnel.

Ok.

(J): Via Christie St to 34 St, relay north of station.

(N): Two sections:

Pacific St-Coney Island

Queensboro Plaza-Astoria

(Q): Atlantic Avenue-Coney Island.

For Nassau St Stations, use free shuttle buses operating from Essex St-Bowling Green via Broadway, Trinity Pl, Lafayette, Centre & Delancey St.

For Broadway Stations, use nearby stations on other lines.

Police investigation/train with door problems at 125 St uptown express. Uptown Concourse passengers have been waiting for their (D) to show up. What would you do?

Is this real? If so, I'd just extend the B to 205 St until this all blows over.

Due to a shooting, the Manhattan bound Dekalb Ave (cool.png(Q)® platform is closed for a police investigation. The Brooklyn bound and bypass tracks are unaffected.

Try to make the reroutes as realistic as possible, and avoid foaming.

rerouted via the (D) from Coney Island via West End Express peak direction, and via 4th Avenue Local.

(Q) Runs between Atlantic Avenue and Coney Island.

[R] Rerouted via DeKalb Av. bypass via Manhattan Bridge to Canal Street.

(D)(N) run normally.

Yep, it happened weeks ago... but what about the express trains? Can't forget about them, right? ;)

Well, there's no (R) during the night, so...

(N) via Brighton local.

(D) via Culver local.

(D) shuttle between 9 Av and Coney Island.

Shuttle buses between the 4 Av corridor (Bay Ridge and Dekalb Ave)

I like it, but suggestion;

(N) via Culver Express. Whenever there is a problem, and the (N) must use another line, it pretty much ALWAYS goes Express. And usually when it goes down the Brighton Line, It runs Express. Haters can hate, because I have seen the (N) running via the Brighton Express.

(D) via Culver/Viaduct Express. The (D) used to be the Brighton Express, but that is not my main reason. I think the (D) should do it because it would back up the (F) traffic if everything was running Local. I now there is construction at Smith/9 Sts., but still the (D) could go Express South of Church Avenue.
