(E) - Suspended

(F) - Normal service

(M) - Extended to Jamaica Center

---

A terrorist attack has destroyed the Times Square station, making it impassable for trains. How would you reroute the

(1)(2)(3)(7)(N)(Q)(R)?

This would be one hell of a catastrophe to rival 9/11 if not exceed it. In such a situation, extraordinary measures would have to be taken.

 (1) from 237th Street to 49th Street

 (1) from 34th-Penn to South Ferry

 (7) Service from Main Street to Grand Central. No Express service, see (8)

 (8) Since this is an emergency, i'm getting creative and turning the LIRR Port Washington Branch into a Subway line. Tracks 20-21 at Penn Station converted to emergency subway use. Free Metrocard transfers at Woodside, Flushing (for local 7), Penn Station.

 (N) Astoria-57th Street - Free Metrocard transfer at Queensboro Plaza for Queens Plaza service

 (R) 95th Street Brooklyn - 34th Street Herald Square via Broadway

 (Q) rerouted to 6th Avenue, runs local to 71st Continental to replace R service and E local night hours.

Since it wasn't mentioned that the (S) or (A)(C)(E) stations were damaged, i would make the following changes

(S) Service runs 24 hours

(A) Increase Frequency of Service

(C) Run local between 168 St and World Trade all times (Increase service)

(E) Run Express in Queens after 71-Continental all times, switch to F line after W4 St, last stop Church Avenue.

(G) Service Terminates at Hoyt-Schermehorn in Brooklyn, Extended to 71st Continental in Queens.

Finally above ground, I would remove all of Bloomberg's sidewalk sitting areas, making Broadway a bus only street with free shuttle buses running from 33rd Street -57th Street in both directions. No Thru traffic would be allowed within the route area from 6AM-9PM, and HOV 3+ restrictions would be in place for all of Manhattan south of 96th Street.

(1) trains run from 242st to 96th, skipping 103, 110, 116, and 125th Streets in the uptown direction, for service, please use the CPW line

(2) trains run from 241st to 66th-Lincoln Ctr, running to on the N/B express track and from on the N/B Local Track (making stops)

(2) trains also run from 34th-Penn to Flatbush

(3) trains are suspended

(N) trains run 8 cars from CI to Chambers Nassau

(N) trains run from 57th to Astoria
(R) trains run from Whitehall to 95th
(Q) trains suspended, (B) trains run local on Brighton

(G) trains extended to 71st, to help with the (M) without the (R)

(7) trains run from GC to Flushing

Select (A) trains run CPW local

  • 2 weeks later...
The year is 2010, prior to the cut of the brown (M), (V), (W). West 4th Street - Washington Square is closed due to a power outage. Reroute (B)(D)(F)(V).

In a seperate scenario, also in 2010, Steinway on Queens Boulevard is closed. Reroute (G)(R)(V).

Well hope I'm doing this right, here goes....

(B) runs between 145 Street & 34 St-Herald Square.

(D) via 8 Avenue Express between Columbus Circle and West 4 Street.

(F) runs on the (E) between Roosevelt Avenue & West 4 Street.

(V) suspensed.

(G) terminates at Court Square like current.

(R) runs express between Queens Plaza and Roosevelt Avenue.

(V) suspensed. (I guess.........)

Wait change my idea to this.

Due to an earth quake , an (L) train has derailed at Bedford ave 5 cars only , (1) south ferry, rector st, and Chambers st has collapsed , Franklin ave has collapsed including tracks , and 2 trackways have fell on the (7) train tracks from the (N) train track at QueensBoro plaza. What is the reroute?

Lemmie take a crack at this for once:

(1) To 14th Street via express. (2) and (3) runs local.

(M) extended to 57th Street via 6th Ave.

(L) to Lorimar Street only. Suplemtal Bus service to Bedford Ave.

(N) train rerouted via 63rd Street to QBL, probably terminating at 71st-forest hills or 179th Street.

Bus shuttle service to replace (N) service to Queens Plaza or Court sq which would be the better option as it worked for the (E) closures during the 53rd St GO's (if the structure collapsed then the switches past QBP and before 39th cannot be used for at least Astoria Line train shuttle service. Besides i would imagine the line would be swamped with track workers with equipment desperately trying to fix the problem)

(7) train from 71st-Roosevelt to Main street with supplementary special bus service to QB. (same reason, not enough distance to wrongrail from 33rd if the structure's ROW is obstructed preventing the deadheading from the switches there)

I think if it was earthquake, all subways properly would shut down just like storm relatived.

What about the (4) And (5) at Franklin?

Oh didn't see that. then Flatbush is screwed. All Brooklyn IRT trains will have to terminate at Alantic Ave and bus shutle, bus shuttle, bus shuttle service to Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn College. (4) shuttle to New Lots from Utica if possible, depends if they had trains on relay at the time.

Everyone Sleeps. That eat , they sleep , they p**p. Arent we good for anything? (LOL)

What? I don't get the joke

NEXT:

A downtown (1) train has derailed at Chambers Street, knocking out the uptown express, and both downtown tracks. Also, the crossovers between the downtown express and uptown express north of the station cannot be used. These ones:

(1) runs between 14 St and 242 St. (use shuttle buses or M20 service south of 14 Street)

(2) runs on Lexington Avenue.

(3) runs late night mode. (replaced by (4) in Brooklyn. of course)

A crack in the water main line causes disruption to 66th St. - Lincoln Center station. What should you do?

(1): shuttle buses runs between Times Square & 96 St. (or use M7/M104) (depending on the severity)

(2) via Lexington Avenue.

(3) runs between New Lots Avenue & Times Square. (shuttle buses or use M7)

Expect delays on all.
