Everyone is welcome to post their worst ideas for MTA expansion here. Here are some bad ideas I came up with to post: -Decrease fares back to a nickel -Extend the to Port Chester -Rebuild the 3rd Avenue el -Buy triple-decker buses for the B46 and M15 -Electrify all commuter rail lines -Replace all MTA employees with robots -Extend the Danbury Branch to Pittsfield -Revive the Beacon Line -Extend the to Little Neck -Operate commuter bus service Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Only reason I see that having a prayer's chance of happening is because I can seen environmentalists pushing for it as a way to cut down on cars in Manhattan. Grand Concourse Posted March 28, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2012 Replace the Steinway tunnels with modern and wider tunnels and make the Flushing line a b division line with b division cars. Add another set of crossovers for the QBP lower level and you can allow Astoria service to be routed to 42nd st if there are problems with 60th st. Have the SAS extend into the Bronx and replace the past 138th-3rd av. Also have a connection to the Concourse line. For Concourse line convert 161st into an express station and add another set of tracks on Concourse (add the tracks either to the right of the n/b tracks or to the left of the s/b tracks). The local track would be the new express track and the walls would have to be knocked down to allow the new tracks to use the current platforms for service. Renovate the TS end of the TS to allow the platforms to accommodate a 5-car train. Renovate the Franklin stops to accommodate a 300' train and double track the line all the way to Franklin. New LIE line to Co-Op-City & Little Neck. Make New Fifth Ave Subway for A Division. Make New 10th Avenue Subway for B Division. Make Utica Avenue Subway for B Division. Runs all the way from Grand Central and Penn Station nonstop to Guangzhou, China and Hong Kong. Express (P) serves Grand Central only. Reasons: -It will finally fufill every kid's childhood dream of digging a tunnel to China. -It will be cool. -It will look awesome. Pros: -Allows you to see the coolest things ever on your journey -When you are under the Pacific you can even have a tunnel head for Hawaii -It will be so fun. -More stations can be added later. Cons: -Long journey -Very difficult to maintain. -If you hate long wait times and etc. This isn't your kind of journey. Overall rating: Best lol ever. IRT Bronx Express Posted March 28, 2012 Share #7 Posted March 28, 2012 * Concourse Exp runs until 9:30a instead of 8:50a, Afternoons, exp starts at 3:30p and ends at 7:15p instead of 4:10p-6:40p. *Some trains run to Norwood middays. ( midday headways are RIDICULOUS). *Eliminate uptown midday express from Hunts Point to Parkchester and restore express service in the opposite direction. *Eliminate the UNRELIABLE Bx36 Limited (I prefer all-local as LTD buses show up very late, rendering it useless), and introduce a weekday & Saturday Bx40 Limited service (mirroring the Bx1) as there's enough demand for such service. *Give Country Club residents NOTHING. *Introduce a Bx28 LTD, locals would short turn at Norwood, while LTD would go to Fordham.
