The Real Posted September 27, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2012 Alright folks, here is what you've been waiting for.... The 4700s: Buses 4704-4709 are 6 D60HFs (a couple of which were pulled from Eastchester (EC) storage) that are being used to fill in at Kingsbridge (KB) for extra service in October, because.... The 5200-5300s: After Nova LFS Artic #5986, the fleet numbers on this order will dip to 5253 and will end at 5363 (instead of the 1200s (tired of this orders changes already)). So this answers the mystery 4700s question as they needed to move buses out of the way to make room for this numbering. The delivery totals and order will remain the same 5770-5789 – Kingsbridge (KB) (20) (Sep 2011)Replace EOL (End of Life) Buses *Completed* 5790-5818 – West Farms (WF) (29) (Oct-Nov 2011)Replace EOL Buses *Completed* 5819-5863 – Michael J. Guest MTA Bus Posted September 27, 2012 Share #3 Posted September 27, 2012 So, QV is getting some new MCIs, the XD60s are going to Kingsbridge, and the LFSA order has changed numbers again. Thanks for the info, Trevor. It really explains a lot.
aemoreira81 Posted September 27, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2012 Why 5253 and not 5250, however? (5250 was retired over the summer.) As for the 4700s, I take it that the best 90 will get new numbers?
The Real Posted September 27, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted September 27, 2012 Why 5253 and not 5250, however? (5250 was retired over the summer.) As for the 4700s, I take it that the best 90 will get new numbers? A) I know 5250 is gone B) I don't know why they're starting at 5253 other than maybe 5252 has a while before being retired as the bus was not delivered until 2001 and is the newest of that batch of artics. B) No, you did not comprehend, there is only going to be 6 D60HFs numbered in the 4700s, 4704-4709. The XD60s are still 4710-4799 which is why the area in the thread was called "The Other 4700s"... Fresh Pond Posted September 27, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2012 Wait, aren't there already some D60s that occupy 5253-5363?
Grand Concourse Posted September 27, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 27, 2012 It's a good thing I gave up caring about the numbering system. Madness is all you can say about this. Would've been so simple if they didn't lump everything under the same number system (and working around available numbers) and separated buses by types. The Real Posted September 27, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted September 27, 2012 Wait, aren't there already some D60s that occupy 5253-5363? There is a few, but I believe they will all be gone in time for this batch to arrive. There seems to be a slow down or stoppage of the LFS Artic deliveries as they are way ahead of schedule. 5254-5266, 5269-5301, 5304, 5307-5314, 5317-5319, 5322-5325, 5327-5336, 5339-5340, 5343, 5356-5357, 5359-5363 are all currently retired (except for the 6 units renumbered to 4704-4708). So there isn't many left to retire to make room for these Novas.

Metro CSW Posted September 27, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 27, 2012 Wow, good news!!! Just a question, how many 1998-99 D60s are left? Because by my circulation, it's looks like we would only see about 15-20 of the 2000 D60s at KB and the rest could be moved to replacing order EOL buses. I wouldn't be surprised if the newest D60s were to go to Gun Hill and Tuskegee to displace the older fleet because TA has 25 1998-99s or less and Gun Hill has about 65-70 2002-03s maybe left. But we'll have to see to believe it. This is great news, Thanks =]
MHV9218 Posted September 27, 2012 Share #12 Posted September 27, 2012 Props for the update, clears up a lot. Appreciate the roster update as well, know that a lot of us are thankful for that -- had no idea for instance that TU got those 5400s, think I'll have to head by there in a few days and try to find out if they'll be trading any more D60s. Guess those last 52-5300s are living on borrowed time if the MTA won't be bothering renumbering them, though 126 is still running their old ones out there as recently as today. In a way, this whole convoluted number scheme sorta makes sense -- making the whole order 1290s would have made the most sense, but it is the MTA. All the XD60s to KB? Hope that changes, was hoping to see those make the rounds on the M14D. Again, props for the update!
Blitz Posted September 29, 2012 Share #13 Posted September 29, 2012 If all 90 of the XD60's are going to KB, does that mean that they are going to give up their LFSA's?
RailBus63 Posted September 29, 2012 Share #14 Posted September 29, 2012 Seems like they want to keep the post-BTE LFSA's in the 5000-series number block and keep 1000-1199 and 1290-1999 open for another series of buses.
depotofrelax Posted September 29, 2012 Share #15 Posted September 29, 2012 I would disagree all 90 XD60 New Flyer articulated should not go to Kingsbridge depot. While Gun Hill Depot is not maintain the Nova Bus LFS articulated that well. But I thought Gun Hill Depot did wanted New Flyer XD60 articulated bus. Example they cannot handle the articulated bus that well heavily mainly crowded on Bx40 , Bx22 , Bx42 line. What wrong this 3 Bronx bus line.
