MikeGerald Posted March 10, 2011 Share #958 Posted March 10, 2011 Hi, There were several good answers to the question, however the issue is not really about which stations have the same or similar names. It is that one of the stations is "famous" while the other is not. For example, listing all of the lines that have a stop on 111th Street, does not count since neither of those stations is more "famous" than the other, unless there was something left out of the brief description. What is an example of "famous" - say to another transit rider "take the train to DeKalb Avenue, or to Franklin Street" - most folks (yes, even transit folks) will "know" exactly what station that is being talked about, even though there is another station with the same or similar name. There were a few that were missing from the listing. Should list them now? Mike

MikeGerald Posted March 11, 2011 Share #961 Posted March 11, 2011 The example of 59th Street including the #4, #5, and #6 would also have to include the N, R, and now Q trains - all at the site of Bloomingdale's, (decades ago Alexanders) and other shopping on the eastside. The 50th Street station on 8th Avenue used to be "famous" when it was the home of Madison Square Garden before the complex moved to its current location, but I'm not really sure it is "famous" now, or any more so than the other stations on or about 50th Street in Manhattan. The same could be said of the previously mentioned Van Siclen Avenue, 111th Street, Rockaway Avenue, Nostrand Avenue or Kingston stations. ------------- Brooklyn Bridge - #4, #5, #6, (Famous) Brooklyn Bridge - High Street - A, and C (Not so Famous) Kings Highway - F (Famous) Kings Highway - N or Q, B (not so Famous) Canal Street - #6, N, R, J, M (Famous) Canal Street - A, C, E (not so Famous) Church AVenue - F, G (Famous) Church AVenue - Q or B, #2 or #5 (not so Famous) Bay Parkway - D, previous version of M (Famous) Bay Parkway - N, (not so famous) Flushing - Main Street - 7 (Famous) Flushing AVenue - G (not so famous) Enjoy

EE Broadway Local Posted March 15, 2011 Share #975 Posted March 15, 2011 71st Avenue-Continental Avenue is a terminal for the local and trains. The and ( F) trains, whether express or local, are through trains. 145th Street should count then since the ( terminates there middays and evenings, though weekdays .
