So, we have 110 R211s delivered to NYC so far, but I'm assuming 4145-49 will get delivered next week.

And MAYBE, MAYBE  a T will hit service next week cuz it's usually 1 R211A train every 2 weeks. It has been back to back, last week being 4090-94/4125-29, and today being 4110-4119. And that's probably why the MTA did so. But it's whatever. My damn diagram, but actually correct.

R211A: 4060-4144, 85 cars, or 8 10-car trains and 1 5-car train

R211T: 404-4059, 20 cars, or 2 10-car trains

R211S: 100-104, 5 cars, or 1 5-car train

Total: 85 + 20 + 5 = 110 total R211 cars

R211s in service: 4060-4099, 4110-4129 (all As), 60 cars, or 6 10-car trains

Lines R211s run on: (A)

Lines R211s will soon run on: (C)(B)(D) ((F) is still possible if the Softee transfers back to 🇯🇲)

You gotta take it one line at a time. You can’t assume until ALL BASE order is done

as for the R211Ts, nobody knows for sure once the R211Ts start late this year

True

If the B D don't get the r211's, then the B D will get r160's.

Regardless of the outcome, the r68's cannot stay on the B D due to CBTC on 8th Avenue and 6th Avenue.

But how soon will CBTC be on 8th Ave, never mind 6th Ave.  It'll be a while.  In the meantime, exhale.

You too

The R68A's will be stuck on (B)(D) for while until about end of 2027, the way how R211's deliveries are coming along, The (A)(C) should be 100% R179 and R211's by end of 2025 based on deliveries rates 20 cars per month, so basically we won't likely start seeing R211A's on other lines until beginning of 2026 or end 2025.

Very, very well. Right now, the R211A delivery is up to 4140-4144, with 6 sets in service.
the 6 sets are in order:

(1) 4060-4064+4065-4069

(2) 4070-4074+4075-4079

(3) 4085-4089+4095-4099

(4) 4080-4084+4120-4124

(5) 4090-4094+4125-4129

(6) 4110-4114+4115-4119

—————————————-

the (7)th set: 4100-4104+4105-4109 is in burn in test.

R211T: 4040-4059 are in the system and ready for passenger testing in 2024

R211S: 100-104 are in the system and it will be shipped to Staten Island and operate on their tracks after going thru testing

R211A: 4130-4144 so far are in the system and will go thru burn in.

R211A: 4145-4499 will be delivered 5 cars at a time with timing from both (MTA), (NYCT) & Kawasaki.

But aren't the Ts supposed to hit service later this year?

Kawasaki will need to speed things up with the r211's or the MTA will have to delay the completion of 8th Avenue CBTC.

8th ave CBTC is already delayed, They want it done by 2025 but it'll be done by 2026. The (B) and (D) can't be 100% tech by then because the Base order would be complete by then going into option I. This all takes time, The main goal is to make the (A) and (C) 100% tech or 100% R211's by 2025-26. All of the 10 car R179s are rumored to be pushed out to Jamaica to expand their CBTC fleet and the 8 car ones would probably end up at ENY.

The (B) and (D) can still get re-routed on 8th ave even with CBTC with R68s as long as the wayside signals aren't as far apart (for that time being) until the (B) / (D) becomes 100% tech.

Thanks for the clarification.

I just hope that option order 2 is exercised and I just hope that the MTA doesn't screw things up in regards to the number of r262's and r268's that need to be purchased.

The MTA better not get to scrap happy and remove wayside signals too soon. And the R262 / R268s are the MTAs last chance to get subway car orders right in terms of retiring non NTT equipment so that CBTC systemwide rollouts can start. The entire R211 order is needed because it will be the last order prior to phase 2 of SAS opening, and every last car will be needed to provide full Service on SAS and prepare the Broadway Line for whatever changes need to be done to the mainline

With all this GO going on today, there was only a train of (1) set of R211: 4090-4094 + 4125-4129 in service on the (A) and a set of R160s 8401-8404 + 8489-8492 on the (C) between both 207th & 168th Sts respectively to Euclid Ave. I didn’t check the Rockaway section today.

You know, I keep on hearing stuff about the 8 car sets being sent to ENY but does ENY even need, or can even hold that many 8 car sets? Why not throw some onto the Q for Phase 2, or something

feel free to roast me

There’s word(unconfirmed for now) of R46’s being taken OOS for parts already as more R211’s come into service.

Already? @R32 3838 said that 80 cars would have to be in service for R46s to start going OOS and stripped. There's only 60 rn.

Very possible that these were cars already OOS before the “window breaks” last week and now that the MTA are out of that glass for that model the ones OOS could stay that way.
