How can I get a real subway car?

Its not a million dollars, its like Thousands. I think an R32 cost around 90,000$ to 110,000$ more like a new car

but its not about buying a train, its about how much you have to pay the bank for using up space in your land. That can cost u a lot in insurese..

Its better if u get parts of the train then doing all the that. Maybe when you get lots of money, you are good. Me its a maybe.. Redbird R33 and R32~~

its a longshot, but what the hey...

-Get a lot of space, and make sure you're surrounded by people who don't mind you having a subway car on your property. You may also want to consider a roofed area to act as the barn so your car doesn't rot away...

-Get a lot of money - you may well paying as much to transport the car to wherever it's going as you will buying it.

-Contact the MTA

good luck...

If people want to stave off fare hike, perhaps everyone should buy a retiring car! :P

Realistically, would EVERYONE have the money to buy a retiring car?

@AWWang:

Try to speak to MTA about it. If they are interested they may give you a price. Like they said, it could reach around $100K, I am not sure about subway car depreciation. Now, even if you bought the car, where would you put it? Inside your house???

I just feel maybe I should just buy a subway car when I get a little bit older... Maybe the R-44 from SIR is pretty nice. I guess $100K is too much for me/my family now... And maybe have seen car #3348 stripped, I would try to get a pair of doors, scroll sign and the car number signage if possible (try to get car #3348's)...

Getting train doors, rollsigns and number plates are nice. You may want to get the MTA logo as well. The prices are more reasonable and you could actually put them in your house. Good luck with the doors though.

A friend of mine that i know from NJ has few rollsigns,i know he has one from

an R27/30,R32,R42 and an R62A.he told me the R42 and R62 rollsigns were

real heavy so he had to use his car just to take them home.

Anyone wanting to inquire about purchasing Subway Cars and Buses check out this list from MTA:

http://www.mta.info/nyct/materiel/cursales.htm

The only thing I see that would carry passengers would be the 5 minibuses listed right now, I guess those are the old Para-transit vehicles they used to run. The list is updated periodically, maybe a few of the R-40's will show up one day if they don't go to Reef or sold for scrap first.

Call them to see if they have any cars they want to get rid of, you just might get lucky and get one at a bargain price.

Phone: 1(800) 543-VALU

This is the asset recovery listing to try and get rid of the things MTA don't need anymore including buses and trains. What usually is there is office equipment, forklifts, radios, cell phones, etc. Before that I think there is a $50 application fee to get into the game. There's a catch though, some items are listed in lots, means you have to buy the whole bunch.

Enjoy

Car sales would be great for the MTA as it could generate some money. But I am not sure if they are willing to do that.

I will purchase a stanchion pole next December for use as my Festivus Pole.

The medallion looks really great.

fish one out of the reefs.

imagine buying one, now you have to transport it wich is not cheap, then have a place for it, lets say you live out on long island and have a nice house, you'll bring the price down on every house in the area. people will be looking in on you and causing havoc. its not sensible
