  1. Only do 2 trips. It’s not as long as it seems, you tend to run early so what happens you simply get out the seat. I did Cape May-New York(5 1/2hrs one way)and back to Atlantic City last summer, so 3 1/2hrs is nothing to me.
  2. Yup. It’s sad, Coach had to bring in drivers from Chicago to help cover the 119. Academy put themselves in there own situation. They focus on charter and not the transit lines. They have the man power.
  3. Those extra XD60s wasn’t for the 119. They were for the 123/125/126. As if now Academy took NJT to court over the 119. There will be a final ruling next week. What Academy needs to understand the 119 is not their line. It’s NJT. NJT can take back any contracted route they own.
  4. Out of meadowlands it’s a rookie line. Egg harbor it’s 50/50, no one wants to really do it anyway. Between people doing crack, the fentanyl ods, smoking weed, a lot of ops said to hell with it. Last sept I pick off of it to the 313/315.
  5. They don’t want ops driving around with those signs confusing people during the non-summer months. Someone like me I dhd with a different sign everyday.
  6. They tried the spilt that route 2-3yrs ago but those people on the islands complained about having to drive to Ocean View Park and Ride or Crest Haven for the 552 to get to Atlantic City.
  7. How long was the vesting period at Lakeland? You coming to njt was a better move, because when the pandemic hit it crippled Lakeland and Decamp.
  8. 10yrs now. my app for the LETP is currently under review.
  9. i have no idea. sleeping on a bus is not the same sleep that you get in your bed. you wake up even more tired. a lot of guys live along the 139 line or in montclair. ive seen guys commute from trenton area. trenton is not too bad if you can base your schedule around the express trains. I live 50mins from eht going backs to the marlton area, and even that's too much for me, some nights i get done and im exhausted and im like i still have a 50min ride and night its always construction down to one lane on the AC expressway and 295. one of the big things is south jersey is rapidly growing with homes that provide rural living that is cheaper then what you'll find in LI, SI, Yonkers, or even White Plains.
  10. just upgrade to ATS to all existing signals and call it a day lol
  11. bruhh yall got tons of 19s 20s, and the lone 17185. Id rather drive the 7100s and 9000s. I miss the 7100s!.
  12. I'm currently waiting to get in the LETP program, being my dreams of being a train op does not look likely anytime in the near future.
  13. Yes he did, I was on that run from sept to Jan that year and he faithfully did it, and I always said to him you know it’s quicker if you drive. But then I understood operating for 8-9hrs then driving. One of the guys that’s on the run now said he’s still commuting. He would get on that 1239am 553, get to Atlantic City at 207am first 319 was 415am(he took a 2hr nap in our crew room at the bus terminal I gave him the code) in ny by 620am. At one point during that he was on the 42nd street shuttle. Before I left that job he said he was switching to the 7. If I’m not mistaken I think there is a couple 7 pm jobs that has you pulling a train out of corona yard do 5 trip and layup on the Hudson yards tail tracks. I could be wrong it’s been so long but I vaguely remember him saying something to that nature.
  14. SEPTA is the worse when it comes to courtesy. A lot of there guys live in south jersey and guess what don’t flash your id your paying. SEPTA employees hate njt for some reason and very few of them will let your ride especially the rail guys. MTA/NJT work together in a lot of ways so all MTA employees ride free as long as you have your id. Also because a lot of mta employees live in jersey, there’s a motorman that lives on the 553 line in Vineland. Also academy has to let njt/mta ride. Amtrak will let you ride as long as you ask and don’t be rude about it. I had a whole car to myself from New York to Trenton. I always tip them because they don’t have too. I rode all the way to DC and back to Philly and didn’t pay a dime. fellow employees use your id what’s the worse can happen, No? It’s no big deal I always have those agencies apps on my phone in the event they say no. Especially Amtrak I am willing to pay Amtrak because njt rail takes too long outside of peak hours.
  15. Ventnor, Margate, and Longport towns complained to NJT back in early 90s about 40ft buses causing vibrations and cracks in walls in peoples homes. They used to run Flexs on the 504 and 505. When that issue happened transit got the 30ft novas with 2 doors and then 31ft nabis with 1 door. They was to run more 505s and have most of the service end in Margate at Franklin Av. Service past Franklin Av is really during peak hours.
  16. It looks on purpose to me. 7802 wasn’t even touched. I was In Weehawken Lot when I saw the flames start coming up. It blocked the sun momentarily.
  17. This was when we used to have the south of Atlantic City trippers. They used to run nabis on the trippers. Atlantic City via Ocean Dr starts in Cape May or Wildwood.
  18. The formans at Washington Twp as assigning certain mcis runs with nabis. Reason? There is a part shortage with new mcis. Some of those 16-22 series are out there with worn brake pads. That’s as far as I’ll say on that.
  19. I agree I feel like the mta should do exam testing process for LIRR and MNR. My advice to you apply for NJT do their training stay a year and then apply and watch how quick you get hired. NJT rail is much easier to get into.
