  1. My GF is t/o on the 1 & 2. One day she had to take a lite train from 241-Liv YD. They made her take 7 Av Loc(didn’t want her in front or behind the 3 on the exp) to 14th but had to call back at TSQ, then told her to take the loc to 14th then exp to chambers. From what I was told they want to keep those switches free so it doesn’t bother the night 3 shuttle if in case those switches malfunction. Which leads me to believe why most GOs the 2/3 is local from Chambers to 96 or 14th to 96. The less switching the better. Even if work isn’t being done south of 34th it’s just easier to keep local.
  2. They still have to report the trips because it’s a NJT owned line. The issue is Academy cuts trips and prioritize charters. There’s a reason they never put clever devices(and they were supposed to)in the new mcis; the commuters can’t track them so if the bus don’t show they get on a 63,64,67 or 139. The other issue is not funding for operating costs; it’s again academy making operators available for charters. Academy does not care about there transit lines because the bulk of their money comes from charters with the sport teams contracts.
  3. To get rid of the 9000s and 7100s, which could possibly dump to market street.
  4. Our 551, 552, 553, 554, 559 are the 24hr lines in the south. They need to train these operators at night. But again njt is stuck in the stone ages. 21 days mon-Fri is not enough for these kids that are coming in with no driving experience. what I mean by rushing, they are passing them even if the instructor knows they are not fully qualified for the sake of getting work filled. They don’t even properly go over setting up mirrors.
  5. Washington Twp. This is the issue when you cut training time. Can’t blame no one but njt. Washington Twp is short 50 operators. I’ve done the 551 and that stretch from exit 17 to exit 28 going west and east is pure tunnel vision. If your not used to working nights do not even think about working the 551 or the 319.
  6. That was a egg Harbor original before the 7100s came.
  7. Now all the operators have to report to work in a high Covid transmissible environment; with operators POSITIVE.
  8. No, they are just testing it out. Newton Av is still getting 8 XE40s. They want Newton Av to be an all electric garage. Being 2022 is the last of the D4500CT, it make sense to test the LE at Newton Av with the chargers. If NJT pushes an LE Newton Av and Wayne would get them first.
  9. Exactly. That’s how you know these lines need a full rework. A lot of these people are walking or riding bikes great distances just to get the bus, and njt just sits around like that is normal now and it’s not.
  10. It’s not even running unofficially. It’s blacked out on the flats at meadowlands and Ironbound. It’s suspended.
  11. Seeing how bad Penn plaza is at planning this is a terrible idea. The way NJT envisions routes no longer is “the way to go”. A new line to the meadowlands will accomplish what? They need to focus on re-working everything from the ground up. These buses DO NOT go where people need to them to anymore. The lines are redundant. Not everyone wants to go to New York, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and New York to transfer to a outbound bus. This is literally a waste of money. When the Mickey Mouse games was being played over at MetLife during the construction of American Dream they wasted and threw away money at a time when things was booming, now you want to throw money at a place that’s a dying thing aka “malls” pandemic or not with a new line. Besides the mini park and the handful of stores at American Dream explain how much more use will a new line have when it will face the same issue the 355/356 faces. I have yet to see NJT fully come through with any plan they said they want to finish especially on the bus side. The bus side is a joke and ran by people who have no clue and would rather keep a bus in a area for 5 people rather then put that bus where 20 people work. Meanwhile the 67 needs a full restructuring. Put money where things are growing in this day when New York is no longer “it”
  12. They don’t even run the 356 anymore “unofficially”. 355 only runs weekends, maybe 10ppl per trip if that. Who wants to pay $9 when you can just take the 160. The people in planning and scheduling are utterly clueless and have no sense.
  13. The 552 sees most of ridership between cape may court house and wildwood-rio grande. During the summer now is a different story, it’s really heavy out of Atlantic City with tourist. Transit is ok with taking a loss in the winter-spring months(Oct-may).
  14. Well it’s not on the winter pick which goes until April. If anything it’ll take affect for the summer pick and more then likely the fall 2022 pick.
  15. Coach is struggling with the 119. A lot of buses never show. And it doesn’t help when the operators pay is terrible. Academy and Coach use the operators and pay them blood money then pocket the operating cost from NJT.
  16. The 10 and 119 is supposed to go to Meadowlands. Greenville does not have the manpower for those to lines. However meadowlands would lose the 84 to coach.
  17. Clearly it’s an operators fault, you should know you need more stopping distance without the Retarder or Jake Brake/C Brake. In the end it cuts down training time, less time training the quicker they can get you out in the real world.
  18. No they was stopping the same as if the Jake brake was on. You need more stopping distance without the Jake brake and Retarder. The switch is dead-bolted in the off position. Then they used the computer to set it to the low position.
  19. All MCIS have rear steering axles. NJT locked them because when the D4000s/D4500s came in 2001-2003 drivers were getting into accidents not taking into account of the shorter turn radius with the tag steering on. The 7100s had came unlocked and some accidents happened so they were locked and for all future buses they now come locked. In turn NJTs MCIS wheelbase are spec'd different from any other other mci. A 45ft NJT mci turns the same as a 40ft NJT MCI. We used to be able to control the Jake brake on/off; but again speedy drivers would forget they had to brake earlier running with no Jake brake, so they disabled that. The 7100s came with the on/off switch and same outcome. All 16000s to 21000s have the C brake “hi/lo” switch but they were dead bolted at cmf prior to entering service. Only buses you can turn off are the hybrids, cngs, and 30ft nabis being they are Retarder equipped buses and are specd to run without extra braking.
  20. I used to go to them trips then, it was nothing but pure fun, families, the old guys talking about what it was like in the 60s and 70s. Once it became free was when the crazy kids came out and I stopped going. The last trip that was paid I attended was the R9s on the rockaway park shuttle, then it ran up the A to 42nd and lite to 207 yard.
  21. I believe it should be a ticket event, this is how you weed out nonsense. I remember back in the day you had to pay to ride those trips.
