  1. I agree I feel like the mta should do exam testing process for LIRR and MNR. My advice to you apply for NJT do their training stay a year and then apply and watch how quick you get hired. NJT rail is much easier to get into.
  2. Unfortunately it is true, I know of 2-3 ppl that went through NJT training stayed a year after then went to LIRR. And that’s my plan to go to LIRR or Amtrak. It’s cheaper to hire someone who is already FRA qualified vs someone coming off the streets. LIRR is a massive payday for ex NJT engineers. You literally only have to train them on operating equipment and then whatever difference in terminology there is within the company, vs doing everything from scratch. LIRR and MNR have to offer positions but that doesn’t mean they have to fill with ppl with no FRA qualifications, they will take all qualified railroad people first. NJT usually hires rail engineers internally from bus operators and conductors, very few come off the street.
  3. Just a little hint here. A lot of guys in LIRR, came from NJT, and Amtrak. They get accepted into the training at Amtrak or NJT, complete it, stay a year or 2 and slide into LIRR. LIRR and MNR wants qualified people so they don’t have to waste time on FRA qualifying people. That’s what I’m doing. I’m going the NJT route then slide over to LIRR. Being I already work at NJT, I just apply for the LETP, and transfer once called. It’s harder to get into LIRR if you have no railroad experience.
  4. Hope everyone is safe! Enjoy some photos!
  5. EHT buses are in the process of getting the new shields. Also the lack of parts and mechanics out of work. 17066 and 18128 may end up staying at EHT.
  6. This is sickening. As I said njt found an easy way to cut cost that’s all it boils down to. The X345s have a wider wheelbase then the D4500CTs, and the X345s make that turn without going up on the curb. The line of sight with the new config is actually better because your backing to the drivers side.
  7. Buses will not track on a line if not logged in to the clever. If your logged in manually as said line, the time prediction will be based off of the time it left the start point and not as the bus is moving if in automatic mode.
  8. Once again njt fails. The 551 has no need to be running market, broad. You screwed the 313/315 passengers with that ride to sea isle and Avalon/Stone Harbor. They virtually killed the ridership on that line; those people will not want to wait IN WRTC. 30th street was logical for the 313/15/17. 408/409 simply put back on market. This move was a money move and they found where to cut cost. The 316 will be really heavy this summer. South Jersey riders cry and complain to the wrong people most take it out on the bus operator and when you tell them “well go to the meetings” they look dumb founded or “get petitions going” you get the same look.
  9. Njt redirects any complaints to the contractor. They’ll keep note in logs but they expect the contractor to deal with the problem. The average rider does not know contractors operate njt owned buses. It’s one of the reasons the state owned mcis are painted in the contractors colors. However the nabis stay in njt colors. Those people don’t see a contractor they see njt.
  10. Yeah you missed something lol. 84/86/89 are going to Coach USA, in return meadowlands getting the 119.
  11. Nj transit is a circus full of clowns 🤡 installing the clever device will do nothing. Academy will still use state buses on charters and miss trips. They can still lie on the reports on why they missed trips. Is Academy running NJT?
  12. No one stays down there. You can thank your fellow operators for screwing that up. The 308 operates on demand. If they have to send 30 buses down they will. All trips out of NY pull a trip down and dhd back to their respective garage. At night buses dhd down to six flags pull it to Newark and New York then dhd back to respective garage. Howell puts there 308s with 137/139/319. The 307 no longer exists. There are 3 full runs on the 320. The rest are all combos and trippers.
  13. Any 63,64,68 that that goes into weehawkin and jersey city are supposed to do a 126 into New York. They are not on the paddles but pre pandemic you needed anything you could get. Howell does the 128 because Oradell is all express in the morning. Meadowlands is tight because they are doing the reverse rush hour on the 166 locals starting at North Marginal and the expresses starting in Leonia, and Bergenfield. Most 137/139(130,131,132,133,135,136,138) all deadhead to the their assigned lots so it’s easy to have Howell do inbound 128s and 321s. If you look at the PM 128s/321s it’s only a few Howell out there, and it’s mainly Meadowlands in the PM 128 and Fairview 321s. Hindsight it literally makes no sense to have Howell do the 128 and 321 but when you figure out why then it makes sense. Then even help out on the 165 now. I’m not sure if they are still helping on the 112,113,114,116.
  14. Not that loud but like the ones greyhound have. They get your attention.
  15. Because it’s cheaper. I would never pay 9$ for a ride that cost 5 something.
  16. Oh yeah that’s right rogers jct only has the switch to the express and local(from the express track)and then to flatbush.
  17. Those 5s are literally 4 trains. However you can’t have all those 5s as 4s(hell at 24min I think it was only four 5 trains running) it would cause a mess at Atlantic Av. I said the same thing, on paper it looks good to suspend the 5. Those crews working the 5 were 4 crews while 5 crews were displaced to work the 2 to crown heights, and to relay at Utica. Those people had to deal with 17min headways at points throughout the day. The mismanagement of having 2s dump on the 3 track holding up 3s, when you could have sent the 2 express from Franklin to Utica to dump on the 4 track then go into the relay. I didn’t see any track work on the express between Utica and Franklin. Nostrand and Kingston folk are used to terrible 3 train service, they don’t get double service with the 4 so why do it with the 2.
  18. I always said the same thing. Especially having mcis on the 159 is utterly terrible. Another thing to mention Fairview should be an exact fare garage.
  19. But the question is are they going to put the clever device on the state owned mcis? The 8500s-8600s and 8900s had the clever device.
