  1. The things some insecure guys will do to try and impress women. Apparently, the pension and bennies mean nothing to them?🙃
  2. Not surprising at all. Cuomo was so full of shit, there should be a sewage treatment plant somewhere in this state named in his honor.
  3. The writing's been on the wall for some time now. Considering the Senate Democrats are willing to cut a deal with the so-called "moderate" wing of the GOP to take transit funding out of the proposed bills, things will probably get worse before they get better. To be fair though, the MTA really needs to learn how to be more competent with their spending and related priorities regardless of what the funding levels will be.
  4. Unfortunately, as long as the MTA is used by the powers that be as a system of political patronage, not a damn thing will change, at least not for the better.
  5. The door can hit her on the ass on the way out, far as I'm concerned. She was a complete political hack, not up to the responsibilities of the job by any stretch of the imagination. We need less people like her, Lhota, or Prendergast, and more people like Byford, Gunn and Howard Roberts.
  6. Some young people have way too much time on their hands, that's what it is. They won't be thinking about what bus is parked revenue inactive at a given depot when they'll have to worry about a job, expenses, family, and so on. Either that or they'll grow up to be one of those weird old foamers in their 50s from the museum train rides, one of those dudes who doesn't wash, works part-time as a cashier at Western Beef, and still lives with their parents.
  7. Yes, this is something that has needed to be said (and for the longest time, too). Transfers are a delay; all the talk about them being shortened under deinterlining is just a theory- experience tells me that it would be otherwise.
  8. Either way, Flushing Meadows Park has always been a giant mindf**k, and I say this as someone who grew up using the place. Trying to find a straight path through the park from one neighborhood to the other? Next to impossible LOL. Was fun for recreational biking, though.
  9. From what I've heard from other people on here, it can take several months, if not more. MTA HR was never known for prompt responses to job applicants, and now with the whole coronavirus thing, its only gotten worse.
  10. There's definitely a lot of untapped potential when it comes to NJT commuter rail, but considering they can't even get around to things as basic as running the Boonton Line past MSU outside of rush hours, I wouldn't hold my breath.
  11. America is a country that pretends to be First World, yet has a Third World transportation infrastructure.
  12. Honestly, it lost a lot of ridership after the last cuts in 2009 or so. It's basically a shell of what it used to be at this point.
  13. In that case my emphasis would be more on the fact that they spent all the years after Sandy doing a whole song-and-dance about floodproofing the system and whatnot, but only did a fraction of what needed to be done towards that end. The optics are such that they've just lost a great deal of credibility, as far as capital improvements are concerned. Maybe things will slowly get better now that Cumo's gone, but the point still remains- they had nine years to prevent a repeat of 2012. Where did they lose their time?
  14. On another note, all this flooding after the MTA supposedly "made improvements" after Sandy... SMH. Lessons have not been learned. Back to square one I guess?
  15. If you're talking about Clayton Guse, you hit the nail on the head. How that idiot got the job is beyond me.

  17. Thanks for the heads up. It's bad enough when people link articles from tabloids like the NY Post or Daily News, but I see now this Buffalo rag is simply rock bottom- fake news, basically.
  18. Not impressed with Hochul so far, but then again I never was; Cuomo's second-in-command, after all. It's as if Trump resigned and got replaced by Pence. Not much of an improvement if you ask me. TriboroRX is a pipe-dream hardly worthy of prioritization, naming the LIC station after Chisholm is just worthless political grandstanding (especially considering Chisholm represented Brooklyn, not Queens), and building streetcars in Nassau County is a misplaced priority when they really should be restoring abandoned LIRR lines like the Central Branch. That being said, I'm especially opposed to extending SAS across 125th. SAS is supposed to go to The Bronx. How long are Bronx residents going to get shafted out of the line they've been waiting for? Already been half a century FFS. Looking forward to seeing her get primaried.
  19. Where exactly was the old ferry terminal in Red Hook located? I've heard of it before, never seen it though.
  20. I would say definitely speak with your lawyer and share your concerns with him/her before contacting MTA HR to disclose any information that could potentially have a negative effect on your hiring prospects.
  21. GOOD. FREAKING. RIDDANCE. @Culver Have you heard the good news?
  22. If there's any class of employees that's redundant and they should be removing from this damn agency, it's 95% of the MTA's toxic, rotten-to-the-core middle management.
  23. Thanks for clarifying, I appreciate it. Had just been closed by the time I started using the station, and there don't seem to be a lot of good street-level phots from the intersection back then online. What I was surprised about was those big open-air parking lots on the east side of Centre Street near Walker back in the tax photos from the '80s. Always forget how gritty and run-down Lower Manhattan used to be LOL.
