via White Plains Road Posted November 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2009 RTS (GMC, TMC and NovaBus) Orion V Orion VII NG (HEV and CNG) New Flyer D60HF Artic DesignLine "CitiBus" Eco-Saver IV MCI (102-DLW3SS, D4500, D4500CL and D4500CT) Why....the RTS's and V are the work horses of New York City. D60HF those take a lot of beating in the streets and I like the way they move and sound. NG's I like better 10x better than the OG's, its the reason I'm giving LF's a chance and DesignLine hated by most bus fans but I like very much...its quieter, love they way it sounds and the more roomier. MCI they can move, love the way they sound and look!

R32 Anthony Posted November 5, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 5, 2009 My favorite NYCT bus of all time is the Green or Blue Fishbowl. If I had to pick a current one, it would be the MCI's. The original ones.
SoSpectacular Posted November 5, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 5, 2009 My Favorite Buses!! RTS - I like 5160 out of Jamaica's depot. That one "clicked" with me the day I rode that sucker on the Q17! Last time I saw it was a few months back at the 165th St. Terminal in Jamaica, it roared in like it was no one's business!! Orion V - I'd have to say 6044 out of Casey Stengel. That bus felt nice and it sounded nice too! Great ride it was... Orion V CNG - Still looking for that "good" one in the bunch... New Flyer C40LF - 915. Nuff said. Orion Posted November 5, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 5, 2009 5075-5124 are being refitted with Allison V-731 transmissions, 5075 already got it, the ZF's are having too many problems, they're built for highway not NYC's stop and go.
Infamous85 Posted November 5, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 5, 2009 O7NG - CS's 4185 & JAM's 4434. 4185 was the first ever NG I rode, it was on the Q44. 4434 is the first bus other than an RTS that I rode on my home route the Q85. RTS - JAM's 4905. That bus sounds different from a regular RTS and it accelerated much faster than a regular RTS. JAM had another one of these except it accelerated faster it didn't have the black & white marbled floors (it was just all black floors) I forgot the number though. O5 - CS's Screaming O5 & CS's Heart O5. I rode the Q44 on one Halloween, when the bus accelerated it sounded like someone was screaming under the bus. The Heart O5 is a CS O5 that has holes on the front staircase in the shape of a Heart with an arrow going through it. I wish I remembered the #'s of these buses. A friend of mine says 9145 is the best out of all of them, I saw it on the Q58 going in the other direction when I was making my way back home to Flushing one afternoon. Princelex Posted November 12, 2009 Share #23 Posted November 12, 2009 The RTS will always be my favorite bus. It doesn't matter what line it's on, it looks great on it. I love almost all of the buses that I've been able to ride on with MTA NYC Transit, including the Fishbowls and the Grumman 870's. The only buses I'm not fond of are the Orion VII OG's. Aside from that, everything else is gravy.
