Think he'll pass the international home run king, Sadaharu Oh?

Yes I do. However like Aaron's ( I don't count Bonds sorry)MLB carrer mark and OH's Japan League/World record the media and most important the public will not embrace it for the reasons the world already knows about?

And it's not taking too much Flinstone vitamins either.

Four large series that could have an impact on the teams' season: the Red Sox (62-47) play the Yankees (67-40) at the Stadium while the Metropolitans (54-54) play the Phillies (60-48) and the Padres (63-44) play the DiamondBacks (41-68) while the Giants (62-47) play the Braves (62-46) this weekend.

The Padres have the National League's best record at 63-44 and 19 games over .500. The Yankees have the best record at 67-40 and 27 games over .500 with the Rays a half-game behind at 67-41 and 26 games over .500.

Overall nine National League and eight American League teams are at or over .500 after an average of 108 games this season. In the Wild Card races, the Rays have a 5.5 game lead over the Red Sox and a 6.5 game lead over the Twins while the Giants have a 1.5 game lead over the Cardinals and Phillies, a 5.5 game lead over the Rockies, and a 6 game lead over the Dodgers.

Maybe a little "parity" this season, but not as tight as it would appear for having 17 teams (out of 30) at or above .500 as we near the 110 game mark. And there are some sickening teams among the 13 teams just under or under .500.

In both leagues this season, the Central is the "fall" division with only two teams each at or above .500.

The Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 5-2 to even the 4 game series and bring the lead back up to 6 games over Boston. Tampa Bay also lost a game in the standings with a pathetic showing in Toronto losing 17-11. Most of those 11 runs from Tampa came when the game was already out of reach. James Shields put in a TERRIBLE outing giving up 6 home runs, a franchise record for the Rays. This begs the question, What other MLB starters have stayed in a game to allow 6 home runs? After 3 home runs a manager can tell that the pitcher is not throwing his best stuff. The only sure thing at this point is that the Texas Rangers will win the AL West.

The Texas Rangers are playing in the weakest division, the 2nd place team is just 1 game over 500,lets see how fast they collapse in the playoffs. The Yankees go visit them for 2 games this Tuesday and Wednesday.

All of the other 5 division races are really close and I hope it stays like that until the final weekend. The pennant races is what it's all about.

The Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow is pitching no - hit ball against ...... suprise, suprise, the Tampa Bay Rays. Morrow has struck out 16 batters in 8 innings.

He has lost the no hit bid.

He won the game, 1 to 0, a complete game 1 - hitter. He struck out 17, and walked 2.

A huge key for Texas to win at least the 1st round is to get the #2 seed and avoid playing the Yanks/Rays/Red Sox AL East winner in the ALDS.

With a healthy Cliff Lee IMO they have a shot at Tigers/White Sox/Twins AL Central. Without a Healthy Lee they are swept in the ALDS/1st round.

to brandon morrow nonetheless.... smh...

I just got through watching each of the 17k's on mlb.com... most of them were swinging strikes in the dirt on 1-2 counts.... looking at that video, the devil rays went in there with a gameplan of, get after morrow early.... problem is, he went in w/ there a similar attitude of, attack these devil ray hitters early... obvious who won that battle ;)

this team almost got no-hit 3 times in one season.... and people are still high on this team winning the world series?

they keep it up, and they're gonna find themselves out of the playoffs...

Congratulations to The Captain! He is within reach at 2,876 hits, and he should become a member of the 3,000 Hits Club next season (he needs just 124 more).

When he does, he'll join some famous names in the twenty-seven member club. Maybe the nice thing is he'll join as a full Yankee - having played no where else in his career.

The Captain's hard work has paid off - only three seasons has he hit under .300 - 1997 - .291 in 157 games; 2002 - .297 in 157 games, and .292 in 154 games (in a 1995 Cup Of Coffee, he did hit .250 in 15 games and this season he is hitting .279 after 108 games). And he has done as excellent in postseason play - hitting under .300 only in his eight A.L.C.S. series (.262).

You Know. We should enjoy The Captain (and Andy, Jorge, and Super Mo) while we can. The Yankees will be a completely different team when they're no more.

With the Texas Rangers enjoying their best season since the 1990's (when the team won their first A.L. West Division Titles in 1996, 1998, and, 1999), the Mr. Tom Hicks era is officially over.

M.L.B. officially approved the sale of the club to a group led by Mr. Nolan Ryan and Mr. Chuck Greenberg. Mr. Greenberg will act as Managing Partner and CEO while Mr. Ryan will remain as Team President.

The entire ownership group is expected to be place tonight when the Rangers face the Red Sox at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Mr. Tom Hicks purchased the Texas Rangers in 1998, and the team won A.L. West Division Titles in 1998 and 1999 then fell on tough times, posting only one winning season between 2000 A.D. and 2009, though not really collapsing (the Rangers' worst was 71-91 in 2000 A.D. and 2003).

Despite their success in the late 1990's (winning the A.L. West with 90, 88, and 95 wins - in 1994, they were leading the A.L. West with 52-62 on strike day and were on pace to win a division under or at .500), the Rangers ran into some good Yankees teams and have a 1-9 postseason record, all in the A.L. Division Series.

Since bringing baseball to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in 1972, the Rangers' best seasons have been 1999 with 95 wins, 1977 with 94 wins, and 1996 with 90 wins. They also won 89 games in 2004 and won 88 games in 1998. Overall fifteen winning seasons since leaving Washington, D.C.. There has been speculation that the Dallas-Fort Worth summers have been a possible factor in why the Rangers haven't been more successful (more winning seasons; more ninety win seasons).

As of this morning, the Rangers are 65-48 and lead their division by 7.5 games. If the present pace maintains, it could be an interesting American League Postseason with the Yankees/Rays, White Sox/Twins and Rangers (Red Sox -6; -4 and Angels -7.5; -11 do have a small chance; Blue Jays -11; -9 and Athletics -8; -11.5 a very small chance).

With the Rangers now settled, M.L.B. will now mull the Oakland Athletics, one of the American Leagues' original teams and in Oakland, California since 1968.

In a very busy night for Yanks Radio announcer John Sterling, A-ROD goes deep 3x for homers as Yanks beat Royals 8-3 tonight 8/14/10. Anyone seen the 3rd homer hit direct into the Royals Stadium waterfalls?

I am sure Mr. Sterling said something like.

"Here the pitch to A-ROD. Hit deep, it going going and it's Gone. A home run into the pool for A Rod. A 3rd Bomb from AROD and Yanks lead 8-3. That is the 6th time in his amazing carrer Alex has homered 3x in same game.'

Meanwhile the Mets lose to the Phils.

The Texas Rangers barring a major colapse in making the AL playoffs for first time in over a decade now joining the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays theme song have a new catchy new tune of their own that already catching in Texas and beyond.

The name is "it's time." Still Jay-Z/Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind' for the 2009 Yankees is better IMO.
