So i was at the Crown heights/Utica Ave station(3)(4).And i saw a man laying on the floor like he was dead.So i tell the conducter of the train that came of the situation and all she did was just look at him.I had to call 911.Anyone think the conducter could have done better?By the way a (4) had terminated there so she i guess was done her route.Which is why i feel she could have radio'd for help.

Thank god it turned out he was alive.

Being that it was Utica Ave. a location with a train dispatcher, I'm sure the c/r reported the incident to that supervisor.

This story must of happened like over ten years ago. I was a teen ager then. Dose anyone remeber when the LIRR shooting took place? It happend a few weeks later so everyone was still afraid by what happend then.

Two guys where punching each other out on the train, heavy stuff like in the face etc.. It happend to be the first car so I knocked on the controlers door he opns the door and answers me that he cant delay the train because of a fight but he'l call it in. I was mad, is he crazy? why would he open the doors at the station? I would wait until the cops came and took them both out of the train system. What happend? he pulled in to the station the doors open, and one of the guys just walk out and the other guy just stays on the train. Now that was a long scary ride home.

because that is what we are told to do. whats the point of stopping the train when police can meet us at the next station. we are not cops we cant hold people on a train. if at the next station the police dont show up and the people leave we are told to keep it moving. when is the public going to learn (MTA) does not care about them. its about moving trains on a schedule. its sad but thats how it is.

If that had been me then that train would've gone BIE.The motorman dont want to do something about it then I will.**** him.**** the people wanting to get places.A crime is happening on the train and Im on it that train aint going nowhere till the cops come and remove the ******* responsible for the crime being committed.

tell that to the guy that died on the d train because he was stabbed and someone like yourself who thought they were doing the right thing pulled the cord. if the train would have made it to the next station where help could have reached him he might have had a chance. by pulling the cord in between stations you delay the process because now power has to be pulled and confirmed before emergency service's will enter the tracks and they need a escort. thats why i'm glad the new tech trains have a feature that when passengers pull the cord the train will not bie till it enters the next station.

Not too bright of an answer. Not too bright at all...

Totally agreed, I was totally against what happened on the (D) train. I wouldn't want to be trapped in the same car as that nutcase with a weapon. I mean it's bad enough it's a 75' car meaning you are stuck there, but that guy [if he was even more psycho], could've killed a few more people.

Is letting up to maybe 10+ people die worth it so the killer is trapped in a confined space? I sure as hell don't think so.

So here go's the question again of "See some thing say something" HOW am I suposed to say something? Most cell phones don't work in the tunnels. And if I'm in the rear cars and the doors between cars are locked on most trains, now how am I supposed to get help if there is a fight or emerengecy etc... I think. I think the 142's have intercoms? right? but what about all the other trains?

You DO NOT STOP THE TRAIN by pulling the cord.

Do you read those emergency evacutation signs they have posted in every car?

The R68 incident(that and the R46 and R44's are they only cars that the doors are locked between cars so i dont get this "most trains" you are talking about) was an abbreviation not a common occurance.

If you have to walk between the cars to get a crew members attention then you do it.

Typical example of what happens when the mouth acts before the brain does.

Well I geuss I should clarify my self. It's most trains "I" travel on. So I can't go to another car an I would If I could, I'd rather be safe then miss the show. A few moths ago I had two disturbed drunk ladies yelling and cursing at each other until one of them said something that ticked the other one off and they both got up and it got physical. They got on the train at Grand Street. If you ever took a ride with the (D) train that short ride to Pacific Street can feel like for ever. I tried to dial 911 but it didnt go thru. All this time on the train no one to call. Finaly some one took action which I don't think I'd ever do. He got up and started yelling enofht cut it out. He got in the middle and they finaly did back off with out touching him and sat down but the cursing didnt stop. At Pacific they got off.

And by the way I'm not saying pulling the cord is the solution. I just think with all the crazy things happening there should be a way to report things.

^^ lmao @ urban outdoorsman

just say it...

- More than likely, a bum taking a nap.... don't have to sugarcoat it....

I bet you wouldn't pull that shit if you were the only person in that same subway car with that criminal....

Or maybe I'm giving you too much credit in saying that....

You want to jeopardize your life, that's your business....

...but predisposing (and entrapping) everyone else in harm's way due to your foolish decision of pulling the brakes in such a scenario... you people that try to play hero, kill me... no common sense whatsoever....

and f*** the people wanting to get places?

How about the people wanting to LIVE...

Jackass.

Some might say it doesn't make a difference, but did he look like a bum? Did he seem intoxicated passed out? We see this everyday, and soon you just tune it out. Unless they are dressed in a suit, or dressed appropriately (not in Bum outtawear), we just don't bother. Some of us call it in, but as we leave the station. MTA hates it when you call, and assist the person. That means delays, and possibly discharging the train, which ruins service, and takes time. As cdi919 said, MTA doesn't care about you. Yesterday I heard on the radio about a person who was unresponsive on a (6) train at Parkchester, that was going to the yard. Supervision says, take the train "light", to Pelham and the police will deal with it there. Another supervisor said, leave that train at Parkchester, cause we don't know why that person is unresponsive. It goes to show how much MTA (not us who you see everyday), cares about the riding public. They just want the trains to move........

That's just wrong... If that person got up eventually, he has the right to sue.

Money, pieces of paper > life, is just not right.

I recently read a story of a frieght train driver that hit a dog and went back to save him. He didn't have to. Now that guy is awsome.

This did not happen on the train, and service was not affected at all.So there was nothing to lose by calling for help.

Um news flash for you..

ANY reports of a customer on the platform NOT MOVING or unconscious you know what RCC says on the radio?

"ALL trains in the area enter and leave the station with restricted speed and extreme caution"..

So slowing down to 10 mph as you enter and leave the station that may be affected has no affect on service?

or they might have the conductor check out the problem. with no c/r on the train, the train cant move and i'm sure the other passengers riding with you wont be happy.
