Sea Beach express tracks

Can they still be used for a G.O ?Been a while since I've seen one. Or are they totally not used anymore?

E3/4 is OOS for it's entire length. They are replacing the track from north of 8th Av to north of Kings Highway. I think they are up to Fort. Hamilton Pkwy with the replacement, but the GO is in effect all the way to 86th St though they can still turn trains on E3/4 on a short section just north of 8th Av but that's it.

The Sea Beach Line (N) express tracks are partially being removed. Only three tracks would exist in the future. The one express track would be used for G.O.'s, and future potential bi directional express service, but the platforms for the express service if it ever happens would have to be built on the location of one of the former express tracks.

Yeah, they're being removed so they can be replaced with new track panels right after...

Are they replacing both tracks or will one of the express tracks still remain OOS? If they are replacing that currently OOS express track, will it be connected to the main line?

is that why the (N) was going via west end today?

Yes and anytime they can reroute the N it will go via the West End to get this work done. The express track was totally shot and will provide for a smoother ride when complete.

Actually the (D), and the (N) would most likely bounce back, and forth between lines till April, 2012. That's the (MTA) completion month, and year, but knowing the (MTA) most likely it might last a bit longer.

2012??? At least the Chambers St project is done. What about 5 Av interlocking?

Another 15 months...

Why are they replacing them if they aren't going to be used for revenue service anytime soon?

I guess these (D) via (N) and (N) via (D) GO's will keep going for a long time...

If there is a stalled (N) train, trains can be rerouted, because the condition the tracks were in, trains using those tracks have to move at a snails' pace.

Also there's a possibility that the track might be used during the Sea Beach restoration (If that will happen)

Whats that?

You're not talking about chambers Street (J)(Mx)(Z), right? that station is in desperate need of renovation. Ive even seen people piss on the floor in that station, its completly disgusting.
